Contradiction?

Might want to look that word up before you use it.

isn't the message supposed to be one of passion of forgiveness????.....nah, not this time.....lmfao....

always loved them baptists growing up in the bible belt.....they just cannot get out of their own way fast enough

What's contradicting about it? Are those Baptists going to hell or something?

isn't everyone a sinner?

isn't that why 'that' person was persecuted and died for our sins?

isn't the message supposed to be about forgiveness?

...as simple as I can lay it out

all you folks that complain about the way things are today have no clue about the 'why'

this sign from the church defines the 'why' of today...

actually, I think it puts a personality on the Church and shows people they can have a sense of humor.

Think about how sick you have to be to steal from a Church. I think they handled it with class.

I agree this is supposed to be taken as humor, stilll the subtext of hell and brimfire over forgivness sends the wrong message.

I knew there were at least a couple that would get the point.....

Did the Baptist say that they themselves were not sinner on the sign

Quote:isn't that why 'that' person was persecuted and died for our sins?

Did the Baptist say anything contrary to that on the sign?

The simple answer to you is that forgiveness comes *AFTER* repentance and sometimes to get someone to the place of repentance you have to tell them what is at stake.

One time, when I was a screw up in the 6th grade my mother told me at this rate I would be going to "Dummy High". It was her nickname for our district school rather than one of the better magnets that kids have to be accepted into.

It hurt to hear but it motivated me... Sometimes a painful truth is love.

They handled it well. That is pretty funny imho.

So what's it like being born without a sense of humor?

It would only be a contradiction if the Baptists were going to hell.

Speaking of AC....we've hardly had it on at all this summer. It's been absolutely perfect temperature wise so far, much improved from the last two shi/tty warm summers. Then again, it's still early.....

the macro point of this thread defines the psyche of so many on this board....

there is always another option with how we deal with the things that confront us daily...

there will never be a utopic solution

the ones that believe there is are lost in space

I am the cynic that you don't want to know if the heat is too much.....

Yes, as I look out the window right now there is a tree. You are correct about that.

I would say they are like everyone else....but then I would contradict myself....being an atheist and all.....

So does that make one that replies to the village idiot an underling?

All I do is live, review, and respond in kind.

I didn't the write the book.....I just read it.....and I think things are funny when people worry about something that requires faith and not use the gift of life to promote a better one....

hellfire and brimstone seems pretty miserable to me.....

trust me, I don't teach that to my daughter.....that's really all I care about

it's these response that I have her read....and she get's it.....that's going to be her strength moving forward
