Just one person's opinion. USA Today sports writers say he fielded a buffoonish team last year. That statement was a first for describing WMU football.

Greg thought playing with Christian Ponder would be better for his career than Aaron Rodgers, too.

He also "talked it up" after the move until he had to be told to knock it off.

What's he going to say? His new QB sucks? Wide receivers always say stuff like this because they want that guy throwing them the ball.

It was an analogy - to what Jennings said about Fleck (i.e. the topic of this thread).

RE: Jennings on board with what Fleck is rowing
You guys do realize that Green Bay opted to NOT franchise Jennings? If they had done so, it would have guaranteed him 10+mill for 2013. Rather, they chose to offer him 8 mill per year and recognized that they were VERY deep at WR and didn't need to overpay a guy who was 29 years old last year. Subsequently Greg chose the 18+mill guaranteed from the Vikings and justified if by playing with AP. Not to mention the fact that Minny rolled out the red carpet and made him feel wanted...while Green Bay simply made a solid business decision.

Now, if ALL THINGS WERE EQUAL and NFL contracts were guaranteed....I'd say Greg would have been crazy to choose Ponder and Minny over Rodgers and Green Bay. But all things weren't equal in this scenario and frankly, I think most everyone on this board would have made the same decision. An NFL player in his upper 20's knows his shelf life is expiring soon and he needs to collect the $$$.

I got the impression from reading the article that Greg was being PC and supportive of his alma mater. He is pretty vague really.

He also said he really didn't see us play last year... but I agree with you. What else is he going to say speaking in a room with Fleck?

Exactly - just like when he signed with Vikes.

Know-play to your audience, say what's convenient (not necessarily the same as what one really feels or the "truth").

So take his endorsement of Coach Harold Hill with a large grain of salt.

This....

No way greg was going to "rock the boat". He admitted to not seeing Davis play last year. Whether or not you like Greg from his nfl days, Greg is a good guy. How many NFL wide receivers with his numbers can only say he shot his mouth off once? Right after leaving the packers he said some **** he shouldn't have but he has represented us very well over the years. Imagine the headline " Jennings not rowing the boat" and I can't even imagine how far peej had his head up Greg's ass. Peej has done a good job of reaching out to a few star players since he has been here. The rest of us are still waiting.

Plus I am sure peej is a nice guy. In fact I know he is just by what he has done off the field. So when I say I don't like his style it is not a shot at him as a person. When you are a college player or coach or even high school coach you meet guys like this all the time. I hated Brian Kelly from the day I meet him recruiting one of our players back in 1997. I don't hate peej, just not my style. If he wins he will get all the credit. Urban Meyer has been successful, doesn't mean I have to like him.

I'm pretty sure Fleck played in the outting and likely donated to his foundation. Its networking 101. Jennings could be the commish of the NFL someday, and Fleck could end up being the next Bill Belichek, nobody knows. Better to build relationships that could help you in the future than destroy relationships from the outset.
