Alright Owl, I'll grant that, but conversely wouldn't it require Republicans to become more liberal on a range of issues as well?

Yes, of course. But it's not clear whether the net change would be more liberal or more conservative.

Quote:That's the rub for many as I see it. Is it a deal breaker for me, personally? No. Cause I really don't like the obvious alternative. But for a very large, vocal and important part of the R party it's a non starter.

And that large, vocal, and important part is why I'm not an R. I dislike R's. I dislike D's more. But unfortunately, not that much more.

Quote:Again, I'd rather have someone I agree with 80% of the time in office than someone I agree with about 2% of the time.

I agree totally. But I don't get that kind of separation between D and R. I'm probably going to come closer to agreeing with Joe Manchin 80% of the time than Rick Santorum. I probably came closer to agreeing with 2% of what GWB did than 80%. And I probably come closer to agreeing with 0% of what Obama does than 2%. Bottom line, I'm hard pressed to come up with any major decision that either one made with which I agree completely.

Yea, I hear ya. In some instances certain D's appear closer to my "preferences" than many R's.

But it is what is and who they caucus and vote with en block. So I guess it really boils down to Boehner or Pelosi. No brainer. Reid or McConnell. No brainer.

Could we do better than Boehner? Lords knows I'd hope so, same with McConnell. But it is where we are now. I guess I vote for gridlock.

I find it impossible to disagree with any of that.
