It's going to vary though, since the ACC pays out expenses for championship and bowl appearances. FSU received more than anyone else last year and will again this year.

So, $3.88 million for ND. Did I get the math right?
It'll vary but that seems right.

That's what I figured, but who knows if that figure is adjusted somehow since ND doesn't start their ACC football schedule until this fall. We may never know.

It really doesn't matter in the entire scheme of things. It really is not a whole lot of money, relatively speaking.

TerryD, is it your understanding that if ND exits the ACC that they would have to pay the FULL exit fee? What I mean is, ND is only receiving a partial distribution, would the 3x the YOB be reduced based on your partial status?

The ACC also increased its exit fees for league schools to three times the annual operation budget — which would currently come to more than $50 million. Swofford said the exit fee goes into effect immediately and would apply to Notre Dame.

I have no idea. No matter, though. ND isn't going anywhere.

I have basically held back from commenting in this thread and I hate to sound like Buck, but something about this just isn't adding up to me.

I'm not too concerned mainly because I never thought of the 2013-14 year as one of the bellwether years to determine precisely where the P5 conferences stand in relation to one another.

To me, the years I'm an interested in are:

2014-15 - first year under the new CFP contract

2016-17 - figures that will include the new BiG national TV contract, three years of the SEC Network, and three years determining the impact of Maryland and Rutgers to the BTN profits

2018-19 - the year after the first 5 year "look in" - did the ACC get an increase? ; is the ACC Network up and running yet? ; and less importantly, the first year where the cumulative effect of increased NCAA bb units due to adding SU, Pitt, ND, and Louisville (only 5 years for the Cards impact, but it wouldn't surprise me if their 5 year total units isn't more than virtually any other team's 6 year total) will be determined.

Cheers,
Neil

Don't care about the Big 12 but they'd obviously be better off were they able to steal some ACC schools when they may have had the chance.

The B12 never had a chance. Everything was based on dude-kook blogsh*t. Some stupid trustee types bit into internet quackery...until they were showed the correct information.

I don't care what anyone on the internet or tv was saying. If the Big 12 made a legitimate play for FSU they might have been able to get them. But by all accounts they didn't have much interest. And since that point the ACC looks best-positioned to be "not last" out of the 5 major conferences long-term.

Interesting that FSU is second(?) in combined football/basketball "money" despite our basketball support (fans and administration) being mediocre, at best. It's a neglected area that the administration is talking the talk, I'm just waiting for them to walk it.
