No improvement by Garton or by Evan, so Evan Karakolis finishes in 7th place, and is the second Rice man to garner 1st team All-America at this year's championships!! Congrats!!

Evan Karakolis continues the great history of Rice track and field athletes from Canada.

On his last throw, Sam Crowser of Oregon won the competition with a throw of 76.98 (252' 7"). Leading until that last throw was Raymond Dykstra of Kentucky, who finishes 2nd with 76.72 (251' 8"). Dykstra is the #1 Canadian javelin thrower, and stands at #60 in the world.

Congrats to Evan, and really to all of the athletes competing last weekend. To make it there to compete is an awesome accomplishment.
