Maybe, but I think all three of us can find a QB to manage the offense. I think defense is going to be the biggest factor.
I believe the person that wrote the article understands the situation surrounding UNT's loses on defense. North Texas lost several starters from the front seven, but there are players with quality playing time stepping into many of those starting positions. He could also be giving coach Mac the benefit of the doubt, when it comes to his ability to maintain the success of a program.
No one who follows UNT football expects the defense to play like they did last season, but our coaches don't seem to expect a great drop off either. If we field one of the better defenses in C-USA West, then North Texas should be viewed as a contender, considering our schedule. I wouldn't go so far as to place us in the Championship Game against Marshall, but by the end of the OOC schedule, we will certainly have a good idea as to which teams should be in the hunt.
We all lost quality starters in various positions from last year's teams. Like you, for most of them we also have players with quality playing time ready to step in. Our presumed starting QB did not get very much QPT last year due to injury, but he had an outstanding performance in the AF Bowl the previous year. If he can consistently play like that we will do very well. If not, not.

Rice played outstanding in that AF Bowl. If they play like that next season, they will certainly be tough to beat. I was sorry to hear about Mouchantaf getting injured. That's a tough loss.

I like the attitude our players have right now. They aren't talking to the media about this up and coming season. As Rakeem Coto told one of the reporters here when ask about going 14-0, Cato said: "Having expectations like that is the reason I trusted Shuler and Doc and changed my commitment to Marshall, but the games are played on the field in the fall and that's a long way aways. Today me and the team are only worried about getting better off the field".
And again if Louisville hadn't backed out this year our schedule wouldn't look so bad. I guess if I had to choose between Marshall, FIU Murrary State or Kentucky (which wasn't an option), I would nix the Marshall game to. Murrary and FIU are wins. Louisville hasn't beat Marshall since 1981.
Point of clarification:
The game was not nixed, just postponed until 2016. We also got a basketball game out of the move...
I understand we got a bball game out of the deal but it's a sh!tty deal. The game is at Louisville, how does going on the road and getting whacked help Marshall out? Since Louisville was in a tight spot and needed out, Hamrick should have told Jurich to send Pitino and the boys here. Probably wouldn't have happened but I just don't see the good of a road game that we all know MU will get their heads handed to them. F*cked up deal in my opinion.

Louisville is paying us $130,000 for the game, which is $50,000 more than last time. Also, its not like our home schedule sucks. We have Penn St. and South Carolina coming in.

It appears football and basketball lines are now being blurred.

All I can say is we better be glad we have RI transfer Assani Mudimbi. He will be able to tell us how to beat them.
Sarcasm off now...
Doc will be able to name the score here. Rhode Island hasn't had a winning season since 2001 and they are 33-99 in that time.
Ive heard that Hamrick tried to get better IAA teams but no one with playoff possibilities would even think about playing this Marshall team. And if I was them I doubt I would either. It could make or break your playoff hopes. You go 8-3 with a blowout to a IA team you cold get overlooked by the playoff committee with a team that goes 8-3 with the 3 losses in their conference.
