My Son Is Going To Josh Pastner Basketball Camp This Week
My eight year old is attending CJP's basketball camp this week and is having a blast. Most of the current players were there today along with some who have already graduated...

Wesley Witherspoon - for the second year
David Pellom - CJP said he is attending graduate school
Chris Crawford - a campers favorite who actually scrimmaged with the kids last year
Adonis Thomas
Doneal Mack - he comes back every year

Along with lots of basketball, CJP emphasizes how important grades and character are. When he introduces the players and former players, he gives some information about their scholastic career (GPA, graduate school, etc.).

His handout today included information such as character development, his principles for success using TIGERS as the acronym and his "The Sweet 16" drills to improve your game.

This camp is extremely well run and provides another example of the character of our coach and players. The kids learn a lot about the game and have a blast while doing it.

RE: My Son Is Going To Josh Pastner Basketball Camp This Week
"Everyone knows how driven Josh is," says roommate and UA basketball administrative aide Jack Murphy. "However, not many people know that he is like that away from the spotlight just as much as he is within it. He never wants to be recognized for his individual work and would much rather sing the praises of the team effort. In recruiting he is relentless and yet never wonders who will get credit for recruit A or B. Just as long as Arizona is successful Josh is happy. He is a man that I have had the opportunity to live with over the past few years and a person who has become one of my closest friends. I could continue to speak on all of the wonderful qualities Josh possesses but I am afraid that I do not have all day. He is an inspiration to many and a beacon of light constantly. He is the man that I would hope for my son to become."

Or perhaps as a player or coach he has been to 7 Sweet 16s.
5 Elite 8s. 2 Final Fours. 2 Finals. I couldn't resist either.

My grandson got caught trying to sneak into the cabin at the Girl Scout camp across the lake from the Boy Scout camp where he was last weekend. I had to go pick him up because they sent him home. He asked me what he did wrong, but I didn't know what to tell him. I just told him that as long as he wasn't sneaking into another Boy Scout cabin that I wasn't concerned.

Thanks for posting that, papajohn. Most of us would never have the opportunity to know what actually happens at those camps.

RE: My Son Is Going To Josh Pastner Basketball Camp This Week
My son will be there the week of the 23rd. He was been to every camp Pastner has done since he became Head Coach. The camps are awesome, the camp kids treat the players like rock stars! Very worth while if you have the ability to send your child. Some of the parents are bigger autograph seekers than their kids!

Maybe your son will learn how to clap and read flashcards while he is there.
