RE: Big Ten eyeing Madison Square Garden for 2018 hoops tourney

I agree. I don't see them leaving MSG unless MSG doesn't want them. Even moving down to the Wells Fargo Center in Philly or over the river and into Barclays or deeper into Nassau County is pretty much the first step into irrelevancy.
I don't know why the Big Ten school presidents put up with Delany at this point. You're mid west schools from big mid west states with the deepest alumni bases within the footprint. Stop squeezing water from the rock and cater to your base. What a megalomaniac.

And I'd be willing to bet if the Garden is to host the 2018 Big Ten tourney, the Big East (in addition to getting its Gavitt Tipoff series) will get a sweetheart deal with a midwestern arena in that year. I'm thinking the United Center. The Big East might even see the value in playing their tournament in the midwest from time to time given that half of the membership is west of the Appalachians.
The Big East has an air-tight agreement with MSG through 2026 and if ESPN's attorneys couldn't break it for their friends at the ACC, neither will Delany's.
More likely for the B10+4: Prudential Center.

Or better yet, Philly.
On a serious matter, Andy Katz at the WWM suggested Cleveland, Detroit, Omaha, and the Twin Cities as possible hosts should the B1G fail in their quest for the Garden. The first two, and the Twin Cities(If it's the new Vikings Stadium, both Xcel Energy Center and Target Center have too much going on in March to be considered) are possible, but Omaha maybe too far West for those out East.
