Samford to fire Coach Bennie Seltzer
Reports are that Samford is going to fire Bennie Seltzer after 2 seasons. IF this happens what are the chances that Murry Bartow will become the next coach at Samford?

We talked about this a couple of years ago, on paper it looks like the perfect fit, he can be close to his mother, the AD is an old friend. But not sure how he would feel about coaching the little brother across town in the shadow of the program his father built and he got fired from.

If I was Murry I'd do it! It would give me a reason to want to beat Samford...

If he didn't get a raise or an extension after this season, it's a perfect time to go. Murry's roughly in his 50's, he can get a five year deal probably out of Samford that puts him really close to retirement. I'm sure he's invested well and taken care of the money he's made over the years. He can take some guaranteed money, coach a few more years and then slip off into consulting, broadcasting, or whatever until retirement.
I'd love to see him do it, he probably won't, but I'd love to see it.

Not to mention I am sure his dad did pretty well and that money will eventually come to Murry and his brother and sister.

For what it's worth, rumors about Bartow as a candidate for this position are in motion:

That job really looks to be a trainwreck. Would an established coach really want to clean up this mess this late in the game?

Good hire for them. Wish we could trade coaches with them.

Absolutely. He plans to press for 40 minutes, which would be a refreshing change- and he is young enough not to be so set in his ways like Bartow. Plus, I grew up loving Rick Pitino's Kentucky team and Padgett was one of my favorites.
