Not only EMU, but a few I-AA schools or whatever they are called now too.

Find it interesting that JMU has a larger budget than ECU.

As long as NIU has 10+ win seasons I don't care how.
Also I bet the revenue for NIU will increase by at least another 1.3mil in 2014.

Quick glance seems to show the Sunbelt is managing athletics pretty well. So are the Dakotas.
On quick review, I would give us a letter grade of C.

ND, NDSU, SD, and SDSU have had strong athletic programs for quite some time now.

You didnt get out earned by EMU, in fact their athletic department is the most heavily subsidized in the MAC. You really have to look at the numbers to see what is really happending. I looked at the high and lows within the #'s. Many MAC schools are heavily subsidized by student fees and school funds. I looked at each MAC school. EMU only receives about $500,000 in contributions and they appear to be the lowest. University of Toledo is the highest year over year around $3,000,000. EMU is the most heavily subsidized. The University of the Toledo is the least subsidized (that is a combination of student fees and school funds) EMU appears to be the lowest in ticket sale revenue. U of Toledo is the highest.

Yep, it seems to me to reflect an uptrend under J. Phillips, and a plateau under Compher. At least a cursory glance gives that appearance. But the numbers don't tell the whole story, so I am not making any judgments based solely on that. A lot of really good things have gotten done, and our present focus (at least the talk) seems to be in the right place.

What promted me to do this was in exchange to a fellow Huskie fan asking how could EMU outgain NIU in revenue? The proof is in the numbers. In fact EMU is in the most trouble of any MAC program because they are more dependent on University Funds then any other school. Student fees and school funds (primarily school funds) are being diverted to subsidize athletics when they could be used for the academic side. I will try this again and just point out the highs and lows of the MAC West.
Ticket Sales
NIU $2,203,585 (best)
EMU $367,038 (worst)
Subsidy
EMU $22,364,722 (worst)
Toledo $11,149,815 (best)
School Funds diverted to support athletics
EMU $20,791,879 (worst)
UT $0 (best)
Rights Licensing
CMU $4,037,407 (best)
EMU $2,229,952 (worst
Percentage of subsidy
EMU 78% (worst)
UT 48% (best)
Contributions
EMU $418,086 (worst)
UT $3,189,080 (best)
Other revenue
Ball State $1,702,987 (worst)
UT $3,086,471 (best)
