King Arthur Legend
Did he exist or not? If so who was he? I say he existed, though may not have been known as Arthur and was a post-Roman and pre-Saxon ruler or warlord that held off the Saxons for awhile. Probably would have been Welsh (Celtic).

My money is on him being a compilation of a bunch of local stories. As a person he probably never existed.

He has shown up in several different cultures, all Celtic. Not just in Ireland and Wales, but also in Northern France. It is pretty fascinating.

Exactly. Back in a time when societies were very localized and word of mouth was the main method of transmitting news. Stories of local warlords over decades and centuries come together to make legends.
