RE: Where did Native American Indians Originally Come From?
Quote:I have wondered what kind of event in Asia would have triggered the natives to come over here. I mean, that must have been cold as f*ck and it couldn't have been just a stray family or an adventurous tribe.
Well, obviously the Eskimos came across that bridge into northern Canada.
Where did the Native Americans come from? The Eskimos who realized it was damn too f'cking cold, so they just went south -- leaving those with a fetish for icicles in their igloos.

The Atlantic was smaller at that time, since it's been widening at about 1 1/2" per year since that time. Ocean levels were probably a bit lower then too. So crossing the ocean wouldn't be the daunting task it is today. It's not as outrageous an idea as some scientists suppose.
But since that was over 20,000 years ago, it's kind of hard to tell.
The latest DNA evidence points to all being from Asia, from a population that both went into the Americas and into Europe.

Nailing down a migratory people can be difficult, when you're looking at something over 20,000 years in the past.

That's what makes the DNA analysis interesting.
Here's one:

....
From these results, the study concluded that genes typical of the people of West Eurasia came to the American continent earlier than previously believed - namely 24,000 years ago, during the Upper Paleolithic period. Furthermore, the data revealed why Indians carry the haplogroup X, a mitochondrial DNA haplogroup commonly occurring among the peoples of western Eurasia, but not found among East Asians.....

The people in the north liked it up there. They came later than the rest, about a 1000 years ago. They replaced the "Dorset" culture.

They were Phoenicians who landed on the Gulf Coast and Mexico.

It was probably just a lost group of Japanese tourists who took a plane over from Tokyo. I think that JAL used to have direct flights from Tokyo to Atlanta. If not, they probably flew into either San Francisco or Chicago.
