Bizarro world indeed these days - we've gotten 3 commits in the last 4 days, including a 3 star ATH and a WR from Dallas' South Oak Cliff - which would be a great pipeline.

I think this is our AD stepping in to improve recruiting - he now has scheduled meetings with June to discuss recruiting strategy and activities, according to some insider-types on the pay sites.

How does a 4* have only 1 offer?

Looks like the west division just got a little stronger.

It is strange - he's been visited by Michigan twice and other huge programs, but no offers. I read that he shined in the Elite 11, so perhaps some others are waiting to offer until they see where the other QBs fall.

We've seen this before though, with Tyler Harris (UCF) and Eddie Printz (Mizzou), where we get an early QB commit and we cannot hold onto him.

Could be he has seen what Larry has done in such a short time with the basketball program. Now he wants to get the football program on the same track. This league could use a strong SMU football program.

SMU fans could use a strong SMU football program. . . Especially, for those of us who are old enough, and had the privilege, to watch Eric Dickerson, Michael Carter, Russell Carter, Wes Hopkins, Harvey Armstrong, and the remainder of the players that other people call "Pony Excess!"

If that were the case we'd have seen June upgrade the staff by adding some recruiters since the majority of his staff doesn't give a **** about recruiting. We'd have also seen June improve his presence in the SMU community. He's basically a ghost these days.

We effectively have 2 offensive recruiters on staff - Phillips and Broussard (new, from UCLA). Bert Hill and Tom Mason handle the defensive, along with Odum.

Other than that, we have a staff full of guys like Suan, Morrison, Daniels, Boracio-Leon, et al - and I literally cannot figure out what the heck these guys do during the recruiting period.

Seriously, zero offers though? This isn't even that early in the recruiting cycle. 4 schools are almost done with their classes already. PJ Walker was only a 2* and he had 6 FBS offers. If you're a 4* QB, you shouldn't have to camp for FBS offers. A 4* QB in CA should easily have offers from SDSU, SJSU, Fresno, Boise, UNLV, Nevada, and at least one of Arizona, ASU, Wazzu, Colorado, Utah.

Good point, considering all of that it's hard to believe this kid is the real deal.

I've heard from sources that always have been correct Hart has meetings with June and staff every couple of weeks regarding recruiting.

Regarding the flurry of recent commitments, maybe recent photos have led these recruits to thinking that June and Co are at Baylor and they are committing to the Bears?

FYI, 4-5* recruits are good news for all of us.

SMU it's been on a football slump as of late perhaps b/c of June, I don't know, but many of us are interested in knowing where or how their football is going.

That said, I don't see anything wrong with posting it here... Then again, you're a newbie here so I'll leave it at that.

Oh, and yes, fire June...
