Texas takes game 1 over Houston 4-2.

Texas Tech takes game 1 in the Lubbock Super Regional 1-0 against Charleston.

UC Irvine is heading to Omaha after a 1-0 win over Oklahoma State .

Texas will open the 2014 College World Series as the debut game at TD Ameritrade Park against UC Irvine at 2 p.m. on Saturday. The other half of the bracket will get rolling at 7 p.m. when Louisville takes on Vanderbilt.

So freaking pumped right now. Texas Tech had some really good teams in the middle to late 90's and early 2000's that could not get over the hump and make it to Omaha. This team was projected to finish 8th in the Big 12 so what they have accomplished is simply amazing.

With Tim Tadlock as Manager, I have a feeling this won't be our last trip.

Texas has 35 CWS appearances, 6 titles, 6 runnerups. The other 9 still alive have 0 titles and have never been a runnerup either.

I wonder how many times, if ever, has Omaha hosted 3 teams from the same state?
