National Map with all Div 1 Teams.
I'm not sure this has been posted here but it's a National Map that can be enlarged so you can see where every team is actually located. I thought it looked great. 04-cheers

Click on the "Map" link below 1st map.

RE: National Map with all Div 1 Teams.
when you take TV money out of the equation you can really see how there's an opportunity to make some common sense groupings, geographically. For example, there is a clear divide through the middle of the country with 28 teams residing west of Texas Tech. Those teams group nicely into 4 divisions of 7. Those should be matched into two conferences. Put all of the schools in WY, CO, UY in one, UTEP plus all the schools in NM, AZ and NV in another, the 7 schools in Cali together, and finally HI + all the schools in WA, OR and ID.

There's groupings of 6 or 7 elsewhere that just stand out and make since- the 6 six schools in KS, IA, NE and MO could be a division, the 14 schools in AR, OK, and TX (minus UTEP) would make since. If the TV revenue was distributed evenly amongst all FBS schools the "power" teams could justify being in a conference with a mix of "non power" programs and could use non conference games to schedule up.

Was made in 2012, so several of the FBS pledges are missing.

The pre-FBS -FCS monikers were 1a and 1aa, both of which were division 1. Not that it really matters, but for the map to be accurately titled it should be FBS or 1A.

Okay, I need a life, lol.

This really shows how concentrated FBS is east of mid-Texas. West of San Antonio, there really are not many FBS schools relative the rest of the country. It also shows how spread out the travel is for the schools in the MW.
