The Nats have tweeted two AR highlight videos in the first two innings of today's game:

1) Solo home run in B1: http://t.co/CfUAAv1Pps

2) Amazing webgem 5-3 putout in T2: http://t.co/lwJKOfsB5e

I always prefer to watch his webgems over his hits.

And next ...

Quote:Washington Nationals ‏@Nationals

Since the 7th inn. last night, A.Rendon now has 6 hits (5 singles, HR) in as many at-bats. He entered the 7th last nite in a 5-for-43 funk.

Me too. It's in those that he does something that can't be achieved through better science.

That's a pretty sick play by AR, among the best I've seen this season.

What makes it even more amazing is that, even though he fielded the ball way behind the third base bag and on his knees, his arm is so strong that the play at first wasn't even close.

And Rendon hit a 2 run HR in the 6th inning tonight, his sixth of the year.

Twas his 7th.

Glad he's heating up some. His sluggish May, and Springer's torrid stretch in the month, reminded me of Brian Foley's prediction that Springer was the better hitting prospect..

Now Singleton's up, and just got his first major league RBI (bases loaded walk). The Astros' kids are starting to grow up, I'm guessing they would like to bring about 1 a month up this year, and when they hit September they might be starting to look like a ball club again.

I don't think any of the really big prospects--Correa, Appel, McCullers--makes it this year, they're still too far down in the minors. And I'm still not as sold on Appel as a lot of scouts are. But Luhnow got him below market because Houston was home and he wanted to play here.

Who would have predicted that AR would have more HR's than Werth and as many as LaRoche and more RBIs than either of them at this point in the season? And leading the team in runs scored.

And all happening under the radar, so to speak.

Was in DC, went to Dicks sporting goods and Sports authority to find me a Rendon Jersey/shirt - nothing to be found...though they had every Harper / Stras jersey possible.

It was nice back when the Nats drafted AR to look really smart to my season-ticket holding buddy and say 'I've watched him at Rice for three years and he'll be starting for us before you know it'...and yes, it was sadly no better at Nats Park last year finding an AR t-shirt...hopefully they will stock up this year now that he appears to be the permanent third baseman.

I doubt that Appel will ever be a major league pitcher. If he does, in my opinion, he will have had to learn how to pitch more than once a week.

I tend to agree. I would probably have drafted someone else. Jim Bowden on MLB radio yesterday was saying that he'd have gone for Kris Bryant (who went to the Cubs at #2). I think that's probably where I would have gone.

Rendon with his 9th homer tonight - a 2-run blast in the first inning.
