I'm going to say it again, and someone is going to throw something at me.

the real minimum wage is zero, and when government artificially increases the cost of unskilled labor, they necessarily reduce the demand for it, thereby increasing the number of people who make the real minimum wage.

Pretty good quote at the end of the article....

Quote:"I'm not saying the government should disappear or I hate the government," he said. "We need a government. We have a good government, but the government's gotten overzealous with respect to what it thinks it should do...The government needs to get out of the way."

If there is an underlying nicety to this, it is fast food prices itself out of existence....in no way would that hurt my feelings after looking at all the fat fkrs in this country that are too lazy to live a healthier lifestyle....

...for the current/future unemployed....those that had a ****** upbringing....that can't speak properly, read well, or write (this is why I'm a dot-dot-dotter....just to prove a fkn point).....black/white is irrelevant.....there are so many people in the millennial generation that are fkd....and there isn't one thing I can or will do about it.....

I keep thinking you'll add some value to the conversation, but then I'm an optimist at heart.

There will always be a little bit of this at the beginning. Then of course the market adjusts.

RE: Who could have possibly seen this coming?
People keep griping about how fat America and the world has become.
So raise it up and close some fast food places.
In fact automate or close would probably be what would happen.
Dems can preach how they are making sure everyone is protected
so they can have a decent wage.

I'm not surprised that I have to explain this to you but I'm a teacher so I don't mind teaching you.

Businesses are going to do this sort of thing because they fear loss in profits. They are simply protecting themselves. Once they see however that the a higher minimum wage means more customers, they will hire more.

For every burger flipper there is 10's or 100's of people who now have the money to afford to eat out more.

wow. 03-lmfao and where's ecumbh1999 when you need him? 03-lmfao

Quote:"When the minimum wage increases, there are two things you can do," he said. "One is you can reduce the amount of labor that you use or you can increase your prices."

But with increased costs from food, taxes, fuel, health insurance and regulatory compliance, Puzder said businesses can only raise prices so much before customers become less willing to shell out.

So the folks at the bottom of the totem pole who've always had the least amount of disposable income are going to eat out more? It's all relative, the prices for the food will increase overall so there's no net gain for them to eat out on. Econ 101.
