I think Geron has the best chance to make a team in the league out of this Tiger class.

I tweeted John Martin a week or so ago exactly what Lucas said; if Geron would lay off the outside shot, he has a good chance of sticking in the league.
Yea, he wants so much to prove he can hit the outside shot. The funny thing is when he stops trying so hard to prove himself, the outside shot would just be there when needed.
So much thinking goes into proving you can do something. lol No thinking allowed when shooting.

One of my favorite Tigers in the last 20 years. I think he'll make a team.

I agree. He will have to make on defense, and I can see that happening. He could be a Tony Allen type of player.

NBA looks for players that have a specific skill that they are extremely good at and that's all that matters. Tony Allen cant hit a 3 for nothing but he's in the league and gets paid handsomely for his Defense. Geron has the athletic ability and D to be in the league no question about that

Tony Allen was Big 12 player of the year and was a stud in college. He can score but he knows his strengths and weaknesses. Geron needs to do the same and maybe he can be half as good as Tony which would be enough to stick in the league.

Tony Allen isn't a scorer and can't hit outside shots for the most part except for the occasion surprise. He's there for getting the junkyard baskets and playing D. Being the Big 12 player of the year means nothing then or now because he still can't hit shots

Geron compares to Tony Allen in terms of their defensive prowess. Geron could hope to be that kind of player but his quickness, speed and athleticism provide an avenue to actually be better.

Agree. Geron is an outstanding athlete. His strength is part of the reason he didn't get the foul calls he should've.

Tony Allen scored 16 ppg his last year of college ball and scored 1000 points in his two years at OSU. He was a scorer in college.

Tony was a scorer in college, a defensive beast and basically a stud in college. Geron was a good defender in college, an average scorer at all, and we expect his game to transition into the NBA ala Tony. That's a tough tough guy to match up to...I think a guy like Beverly might be a better comparison. A defensive pest with a decent offensive game.

You're missing the point, what tony did in college means nothing compared to what he is in the NBA, compare to even the average player, he can't score. He uses his outstanding defense to make plays. Second of all, I'm not saying that Geron is the second coming of Tony Allen but that for a guy who has issues scoring but plays great D and has NBA people acknowledge that he is great on D that he could follow in the footsteps of a Allen and make a career out of playing great D

That depends on the position. It's certainly not true of PGs.

Geron has a chance, but he's not at all close to the caliber of a defender that Tony was in college and is in the NBA now. Players like Tony are rare...offensive liabilities don't normally start for a pro team. Tony is so gooood on defense that he's probably the only one in the current crop of players that can start or play extended minutes without hurting the team. Geron will have to shoot better ala Beverly if he wants to make it in the NBA, and I think he will.

Yep, Ben Wallace and Dennis Rodman come to mind but they were both double digit rebounders as well.

Bruce Bowen...Although he could hit an open 3 towards the end of his career.
