RE: Is BYU coming?
I think it would actually make sense for BYU and for the American.
But I don't think it's going to happen for a few years yet, if ever. What I do think you'll see is increased cooperation on bowls, scheduling, media, etc.

Allegedly Tuberville said it was happening. I am just trying to see if anyone heard the radio show?
If so that would mean 7 in the West and 6 in the East.

Not to throw cold water on the party but keep in mind that the discussion at the meetings could have been about adding a 13th member for Olympic sports with no football.
If the basketball coaches want to go to 16 games as it was stated by one of the reporters than having a non football member to make 2 divisions of 6 would give you that. Home and home with everyone in your division and 1 game against the other division and your at 16.
At this point i would say that's more realistic than BYU. Just my opinion.

Could be, but it was a football coach saying it and seemingly excited about it. But even so, it could be any of a number of teams.

This!!!! If it is FBall, who else could it be accept BYU? Army? Can't be a singular MWC school. No CUSA school. Maybe Notre Dame

Did he say "BYU" or did he say "13"? 13 could mean a lot of things.

I sure hope i am wrong. If i am and it's BYU that is a grand slam! I don't think there is a program out there besides BYU that would make it worth the AAC to go past 12 so if it's a football member besides BYU it will be a disappointment. Any other football addition will be met with major ridicule.

Either way, after the first year we are in a position of power and this should be a net positive for the league.

and, honestly, if it's happening, and it probably isn't, go ahead and get the Aztecs back while we're at it.
And if it's a basketball team, that's fine too, although I'm not convinced 16 games is a great idea if they're trying to improve oocs across the board.

Personally, I hope we have offered BYU a full invitation. No football only. They have a real athletic department and their hoops are solid. I think them being a full member would certainly improve the image of the AAC.

I'm with you, i don't think it is happening, but if it did what a position for the AAC to be in. Make the announcement that BYU is number 13 and then just sit back and let the schools lobby for spot 14. Again, if it is 13 my belief is it's a basketball program.

why would Tuberville even care about a 13th team if it didn't involve football?

It's their Olympic sports, that would be a huge burden on them.

I'd be good with that. BYU to the west for all sports and Army to the east for football only and call it a wrap.

BYU cant be for all sports. Our B-Ball conference champ game is on a Sunday. Unless they sit that out or change the day of the game.

We could go to divisions if we had to and revisit some of the other western expansion that has been discussed at great length. It could work.

Who knows, but why didn't the show hosts ask him to elaborate?
