All that means is eventually they will fire Purnell and pay someone else a lot of money who will likely be better. You are really only as good as your current coach. Personally I'd like to have a program with the resources as coaches come and go, and the better ones usually end up at the places they will get paid.

Pay is VERY important. It shows you have resources to stay committed, vs being a team who is a coach leaving away from being in the dumpster.

Bingo. Does anyone really respect Butler anymore. They were just in 2 national finals in the last 5 years and now they are an after thought. Stevenson left and took the greatness of the program with him. Having money to retain your guy or throw at someone else with the credentials is is big.

Not necessarily true, especially in the case of DePaul. Ever since Pat Kennedy and Dave Leitao, DePaul has been, largely, a dumpster fire, that has not sniffed the tourney. And, with PK and DL, they were only occasional participants at that.

Thus, they "pay up for the next coach" solution seems to be stuck in a bit of a loop, as far as DePaul is concerned. It's almost a safer bet that the next guy will fall on his face.

If I'm a DePaul fan, I'm pretty much ready to reanimate Ray Meyer.

Oh, in answering the original question, no, BYU is not coming.
