Why on gods green earth would ECU go west? A school that is literally an hour from the Atlantic Ocean.
Because nobody else wanted to and you're the newbie.

But they have stated why they want to go west. We would have no reason to want to. Also, Annapolis is on the Chesapeake Bay, not the ocean.

The West works perfectly for Navy as these are teams they have already and can defeat.

I like the East mostly because its made up of teams we haven't played in a while and doesn't look like the most recent version of CUSA.

I understand and agree, I was responding to ur comment regarding the location of ECU's campus and nothing to do with Navy's desires or what was the best choice (though clearly it was Navy to go west). Ya, I know it is on the bay, you know the point.

RE: And its official: 2015 Divisions
The East Division currently has a sizable attendance advantage over the West Division. These are based on 2013 numbers found here:
http://fs.ncaa.org/Docs/stats/football_r...e/2013.pdf
EAST Avg attendance by school
UCF 42084
Cincy 31771
UConn 30932
ECU 43985
USF 34702
Temple 22473
EAST DIV AVG ATTENDANCE 34325
WEST Avg attendance by school
Houston 24256
Memphis 28537
Navy 35588
SMU 18725
Tulane 19747
Tulsa 19893
WEST DIV AVG ATTENDANCE 24458
These numbers will obviously fluctuate this year as last year Houston and Tulane were waiting for new stadiums to be built and UConn and Tulsa were having bad years on the field. However, schools in the West Division beginning with an "S" or a "T" need to have better years going forward.

For Tulane to switch from playing in the Superdome to playing in an OCS, I think you will see a huge increase in attendance. From about 5-10k actual people in the stands, to about 25-30k.

I know this point is made on any attendance comment, but those numbers are basically useless.

This is like a dream (that's realistic) come true for ECU fans. Instead of playing ODU, FIU, FAU, UAB, Charlotte, we are playing Cincy, UCF, USF, Uconn, and Temple. Not only that but most years we will have a home or away with NAVY. It's perfect for us. THANK YOU AAC, I love you guys.

It's distributed, for the most part. The only take away is that the east most likely had larger average attendance last year. Not to mention the west has three private schools. It lacks some context and the numbers are no where close to actual butts in the seats. Oh and navy has 4500 midshipmen. But I do agree that the T's and S need to be better.

All 1?
Cincy (2005), Temple (1991), and USF (2005) are not original members.
Actually... Temple was an ORIGINAL Big East football program in 1991, the year the conference added football. UCONN was an FCS/1-AA program at that point and didn't join Big East football until 2004.
EDIT: two of us were posting simultaneously!
I was referring to overall but either way only one original BE football team is in the east.

There are 5 C-USA charter members in the AAC. 2 are in the east and 3 in the west. If you add "near charters", it's 3-3.

I'm very pleased.
But I thought I was told by many that UCF and USF would never be in the same division so that everyone else can recruit in Florida?

So we're lumped togther with three private schools, a bb school and a service academy? Yeah, that won't be a tough sell in a market that already has NFL, MLB, and NBA teams along with an enormous Big XII and SEC presence.

Yes, you may not have got the best of the deal, but what really matters is the interest level of the 40k students at UH and countless local alumni. Not to mention 6.4mm metro area population, just need a small dent. It's not as if the eastern schools would travel a whole lot better to Houston and though they may offer a little more fan interest, it's not that much higher plus the program qualities are fluid. There should be a decent amount of Tulane and SMU alums in Houston.
