Tell another one?

10 - Due to the limitations placed on annual postal programs and the vast number of such locales, organizations and institutions in existence, it would be difficult to single out any one of the following for commemoration: government agencies, localities, non-profit organizations, associations, and similar entities. Stamps or stationery items shall not be issued to honor religious institutions or individuals whose principal achievements are associated with religious undertakings or beliefs.

ODU.. they may have written that in there, but they do NOT follow it. In fact, the only time I can think of where this was even brought up in discussion of commemorative stamps was Pope Benedict, because of his reported time in the Hitler Youth.

To my recollection, that was the ONLY time they ever mentioned that rule, and it was simply because they had no idea what to do because of Benedict's past. All other times it was not even considered when a religious figure has been discussed as a possible representation.

Nah, I got stamps already.
I'm glad that Harvey is getting the props he deserved.
But my guess is that he'd rather not have been assassinated by a homophobic bigot and then have his murderer get away with it because 'killing gays really didn't matter'
Milk wasn't killed by a homophobic bigot.
Uh, Dan White was profoundly anti-gay. No one disputes that.

Uh, that doesn't make him a "homophobic bigot."

I'm pretty sure Milk was shot because White got fired or somehow lost his job; and weren't other people shot along with him? Give a brutha some help here, I didn't see the movie and the propaganda it contained.

Epic Applause

That might be the funniest post in a long time.

I just hope they follow up with a Muhammed stamp. I've always wanted to know what he looks like.

Harvey Milk at 33 was a closeted REPUBLICAN who had no interest in Gay rights. I'll see if I can find the passage in the book tomorrow. I own it and have read it. Perhaps you can direct me to the page reference?

Milk did, like many straight and gay men, date younger. But I'm not aware of any situation where he dated someone under the age of consent.

Isn't that pedophilia or statutory rape? Never mind, I forgot homosexuals are not pedophiles and never commit crimes.

A hell of a lot of gay men have a propensity for skinny lads. Tom will always lie about that.

White resigned after Milk (along with the support of Ronald Reagan, who was appalled at White's bigotry) winning the fight to stop the Briggs Amendment.

White was a very anti-Gay person. His entire tenure on the Board of Supes was about that. He was so bad that Ronald Reagan had to campaign against his initiatives.
