More whining from SEC coaches
This time it's about Penn State and Notre Dame's camps with Georgia State:

These camps are being done by use of a loophole.
They shouldn't be doing this. If not put down by the NCAA
pretty soon every football coach and assistant will be in an RV
doing road trips continuously.

The SEC was right to limit their coaches...but if there is going to be an arms race they will join in.

Sounds like it's totally a loophole and really a joke. If the rule is you can't do camps outside your campus, why should you be allowed to guest coach outside your campus.

on another thing- wonder what the ACC's rules are about this. If it's the same as the SEC, wouldn't you be whining about it as well? Of course you would.

Guess since Notre Dame is doing it the ACC rules don't apply to them if there are any concerning it. Especially since they only play what five ACC football games.

No I wouldn't. All's fair in recruiting.

This issue by itself is not really that big of a deal. Mothers and fathers still want to be able to see their kids play. But if with the new stipends parents do get travel allowances to games, as some have proposed, then this could become a major issue. The latter will bear watching as it is the only thing right now that I think changes the nature of the former.

OK so lets say when Nick Saban is allowed to be a guest at lets say Old Dominion's camp in a few years, I don't want to hear any tears about it.

I think bottom line, the loophole is going to get closed up and it's going to be a non issue going forward.

If the criticism were coming from a conference less committed to following the spirit of the rules regarding recruiting than the SEC, it would sound like whining.

Except that small school coaches have been doing things like this at large school camps for years. Guest coaches are nothing new.

RE: More whining from SEC coaches
The SEC can change their rule any time they want to. If Saban wants to get back at Franklin by having the Alabama coaching staff guest-coach at Temple's camp next year, go for it.

If the SEC doesn't want to change its rule because they want to prevent Saban from guest-coaching a summer camp in, say, Memphis, that's their own issue, not Franklin's.

Why should ND give a **** what the SEC thinks about this?

I wouldn't care if Nick Saban "guest coached" at a camp at Chicago St. University.

Go for it.

You (and some of your Sun Belt brethren) are annoyed by this simply because it's a fellow conference-mate "exploiting" the loophole.

Simply given the demographics of Georgia vs. North Carolina, it's (slightly) more likely schools would want to partner with GSU vs. ASU, but there's nothing preventing App St. from doing this too.

Texas based Big 12 schools and California based PAC-12 schools will support the SEC to close that loophole.

Awesome. What's that, 14 + 8? Going to need more than 22.

Only pride and lack of stupidity.

I agree that this loophole should be closed. However, it seems ridiculous for SEC coaches to be whining about the ethics of schools in other leagues. That's like Justin Bieber calling some other young punk a douchebag. He may have a point but he's still Justin Freaking Bieber.

Even jerks are correct sometimes.

This will just blow up into another arms race. The SEC will get rid of their rule and before you know it schools will all be having warring camps all over the place hosted by Phoenix Online and Colorado School of Mines or something. It's ridiculous.

Apparently the Oklahoma State and New Mexico coaches are guest coaching at some summer camps in Texas.
