I think the A&M game rides on whether or not they beat USC week one. If they beat them, it'll be on ESPN or ESPN2. If it's a loss, maybe Fox Sports SW? Of course, I hope most on here will be at Kyle Field!

Schedule need to be set in advance before then - at least between competing networks (ESPN v Fox).

So perhaps as many as 10 of our 12 games will be on TV? Impressive.

Is the Notre Dame game on NBC or NBC Sports Network?

Pretty sure it is NBC. Don't recall live ND games on NBCSN last year.

Outstanding exposure! Knock CUSA all you want, but there's no denying the fact that we get on TV.

I didn't really notice it before but I see that the UTEP game will be a Friday night affair. I guess the good news is it's the week before Thanksgiving at least. Or maybe we knew that all along - unless they've changed the schedule from this page, it was listed as a Friday game back in February.

However, the games are scheduled on channels that no one is watching. F1, CBSSports and FSN CUSA games last year were watched by ~100-150,000 people. Mid-week ESPN2 games averaged 450-750,000 and ESPNU games were significantly higher than F1.

It's great Rice is on TV, but only the diehards are watching and it's tough to expand the brand with the CUSA TV package. I'd take one more ESPN or NBC game over all the FSN/F1/CBSSports games.

It's a good platform. I expect the next TV deal to be better. We have some good markets and some young programs. But this deal is good for us. The demand must exist. ESPN has some competition finally.

And, of course, the AAC has far superior television coverage across the major sports.

Actually, from most analysts it is expected that the next CUSA TV deal will be much worse on the financial and exposure side. ESPN is selling much of their excess (there's an overflow on games with them), such as AAC, to CBSSports for much less than what CUSA is being paid for by CBSSports.

It seems like a tough uphill struggle for most of us, financially. So why is D1 adding schools yearly? Are the prospects in this desert better than the one they are leaving?

If you want to see what the future TV deals may look like, look at the coverage the Sunbelt has, and then project that. We are probably benefitting from the fact that Rice is now one of the most attractive schools in CUSA and the deal is still the one that CUSA/AAC made, not a deal that CUSA/Sunbelt made.

I wouldn't trade those games for 1 ESPN or NBC game. Who cares about everyone else, I get all those channels and losing access to watching those Rice games would suck! And thank goodness no CSS games that I couldn't watch in NOLA!

I've heard the opposite. Our last TV negotiations were done without the new schools and markets that we now have. It should go up. Anyway, it's a better deal than that of three other G5 conferences. The sky is not falling. Give this conference a little time to develop and mesh. AAC better watch it's back.

That's good advice if for no other reason than the fact that any one of their conference mates would insert the knife if it were to benefit them. The same is true for the Sunbelt. As for the Sunbelt/CUSA posing any meaningful threat to the AAC (or vice versa), that's a fantasy.

The costs are close to the same until you drop to d3 where you lose scholarship costs. So ANY revenue from TV is generally a 'win' for FCS schools. Sort of the opposite reason why NcKinsey told us dropping to FCS was a non-starter.
