Wonder what the hell raised by the left would have been if the assignment had been "prove reports that Islamists weren't responsible for the 9/11 attacks are wrong and propaganda".

We can't just assume a bunch of middle school kids know squat about the Holocaust. An exercise like this forces them to do the research and convince themselves.

Which sticks in a kid's head longer, some thing he was told happened, or something he discovered happened?

Actually it's usually the opposite. By the time kids get to middle school, the Holocaust is probably the only thing they know about history.

Maybe, but that doesn't change the point of the exercise.
