I don't think the AAC should have a blanket prohibition against playing FCS-opponents in football. But members should be discouraged from doing that every season.

Maybe one FCS game every-other-year is a good compromise.

If we're going to schedule an FCS school (like we have for many years now), I'm glad it was against a more local one. Although, I think UMASS, now being FBS, would have been a better get.

Scheduling is only going to get harder and getting that extra home game is key, honestly I don't like it, but I don't see many ways around it either. Would also rather play UMass every year.

No to Holy Cross. But no also to UMass. Seriously, I have only ever meet internet UConn fans that want to play UMass.

We said we'd rather play UMASS than Holy Cross and if UCONN is going to schedule an FCS opponent (which I don't like either), I'm glad it was at least a local one....

It just doesn't really matter. FCS cupcake game. Old school rival though. Might have a decent showing of Holy Cross fans, if they actually have football fans.

I thought the atmosphere at the UMass opener a few years ago was actually pretty good for an opponent that was so bad on the field. I really want UConn to have a local rival and they may be the only option, other than Temple.

True, but if SOS is the main factor in playing at better $$$ bowls then everyone including Houston should prohibit scheduling FCS schools.

I guess if UConn can't get BC to play them, they might as well play their historic rival.

Gordie Lockbaum will not be walking through the door for the Crusaders however.

Playing local FCS teams is just more cost effective. Usually if an FCS team has travel then the fee goes way up. Also saw that Holy Cross is playing BC in the near future as well.

We play Stony Brook this season as well, another team that is very close.

It will probably had the same effect on us as it has on nearly every school that plays an FCS that isn't North Dakota State. But losing would be worse than getting routed by McNeese or losing to Towson by a touchdown and a half.

I actually like it. If we are going to play a FCS, I would prefer a local one from southern New England. The only ones that have decent fan bases are Yale, Harvard, and Holy Cross.

I am betting a sizable number of Holy Cross fans come down for the game. If you are going to play a FCS school, having visiting fans in attendance always make it more fun.

No to UMass: the last thing UConn needs while trying to claw our way out of the football gutter that Pasqualoni put us in is to have UMass hang a fluke loss on us. I will be okay with playing UMass in about two years.

If that's the case, then you all better beat the living day lights out Holy Cross, you don't want to just defeat them by a few points and than watch BC win by more.

Don't fret. I seriously doubt anyone in America will bother to compare the AAC vs the ACC based on how much UConn and BC beat Holy Cross by.

FCS games really only matter if you lose. Otherwise it's just a home game to make some money on and to give the home fans another tailgating opportunity.

For all the pain and tribulation that Tulane football has been through, we have at least never lost to a I-AA or FCS team since that classification was started in 1978.

The last time we lost to a team that is currently in FCS was 1971 when we lost 14-3 to William & Mary when they were coached by Lou Holtz. The Tribe also beat East Carolina that year, and lost to UNC by 1 point and to WVU (Bobby Bowden's team) by 5 points, so not a shabby year for W&M despite the 5-6-0 record…
