RE: Houston weather
Getting back to the weather for a second, it appears pretty likely that we're going to make it through May without a single 90-degree day (that should change quickly next week as we could get low to mid 90's by the end of the week). That hasn't happened in Houston since 1970. It also means we're going to have eight straight months of below normal temperatures (first time that's happened since 1975-76). Let's hope that trend continues through the summer.

I think that to weather people, what you did was akin to mentioning a no-hitter while the line score was 0-0-0...07-coffee3 I hope you are right.

weather.com now lists:

2 pm--15%
3pm--20%
4pm--40%
5pm--40%
6pm--30%
7pm--30%
8pm--30%
9pm--20%
10pm-10%

This is a better forecast than earlier today. Looks like we may be able to get in today's games. Could be short delays, but hopefully nothing long lasting like we've had in the past.

And yet the 21st Century has already racked up 13 of the 14 warmest years -- according to worldwide temperature -- since records have been kept.

That's not something to be happy about.

But three (or four, if needed) Rice victories this weekend would be something to be VERY happy about. Go Owls!!

Mike, I'm hoping for three. It would be great if McCanna could go deep and we got a lot of runs so we could use the secondary relievers and save Tekyl, Lemond and Ditman for another day. Then, if Fox could go deep tomorrow, we would have a well rested pen for the third game.

A little bit of rain just north of Reckling drifting towards the park. But I don't think it's heavy enough to delay anything. The only heavy rain right now around town is already SE down towards NASA and that shouldn't present a problem. It is hot and steamy for sure.

Thunder and lightning down here south of town - a bit to the east of me. Too far from Reckling to stop action there. Let's hope there are no delays at this point.

Sunny, blue skies over Reckling as I type. I'll head over to the tailgate in 15 minutes.

Radar shows all that stuff moving from northwest to southeast so you should be fine. Some more stuff forming up north around Conroe heading south, but who knows what will become of that.

A little more rain north of town, possibly building a bit. It would suck and be just our luck for this stuff to hit Reckling right before the night game begins.

FYI for anybody else waiting around on campus while they turn the stadium, especially if we see rain, Shepherd is open with comfy couches and benches in the halls.

Start of Rice-George Mason pushed back at least 30 minutes because of lightning in area. Game was originally set for 7:05 CT

RE: Houston weather
Weather.com's "future" forecast animation shows Houston getting brushed by an arm of an intense cell building near Wharton ... but no problems after that passes, a bit after 8pm. I'd take it with a grain of salt, since any Reckling impact is far from the center of action (Wharton), so I'd think it would be much harder to predict ... Could be less of a problem ... or more.

Just tweeted that the 30 minute clock for lightning started over. So still some time before tarp is pulled for warmups.
