Damn. That will be three major construction projects going on at the same time on South Campus. That's awesome if the timeline is met. And if the new Student Rec Center and Highland Row start up this year as well, look out. That will be a huge transformation for the university in a short time frame.

Agreed. School of Nursing/Audiology broke ground earlier this year. You can drive down Park Ave and see the work going on.

Is there an announced date for the IPF and BBall ground breakings? I would sincerely hope some attention is given to the Getwell entrance.

The nursing school is really coming along. The skeleton of the building is up now. It's really huge and has a very large profile at Park & Goodlett. Now if someone would just be willing to climb up the massive crane boom putting the steel in place and remove the UT flag flying at the tip since this project started. I walk alot on the Audubon Park walking path and am always annoyed when I see that flag.

We should make it a contract requirement that only American and /or Memphis flags should be raised. Indeed, I would amend the contact now unless the builder does it on his own.

I admit the flag on the crane sucks, but it is a safety thing, not a jab at the U of M by some Vol loving crane operator or contractor. The flags they fly on top of most all cranes are orange/white. That being said, if it could be switched out to a blue and gray one I am all for it!

The UofM has to have State approval before they begin construction, I have not seen where anything (plans/drawings) has been submitted for review yet for the new IPF or the BBall facility. The UofM did just get State approval for the new women's softball building, not sure when that it supposed to begin construction.

From the news section of Nations Wright website:

Programming completed on new University of Memphis athletics practice facilities
Posted Thu Jun 5, 2014

Programming is complete and architects have been selected for the University of Memphis Athletics basketball and football facility projects. Nations|Wright is currently providing owner's rep and project management services to the University of Memphis for their basketball training center and indoor football practice facility developments.

Recently, LRK Architects (Looney Ricks Kiss) of Memphis was selected as the local architect of record for the basketball training center with AECOM of Kansas City bringing their national perspective to facility. For the indoor football practice facility, Fleming Architects of Memphis was selected as the local architect with Heery International of Atlanta bringing their national experience.

“We are pleased to bring such a talented and experienced team together to serve Memphis Athletics and bring these facilities to fruition.” said Steve Bauer, Director of Construction of Services.

The architects have been selected and the two projects are moving forward.

Bowen said on the radio yesterday, on Calkins, that both projects were on schedule, and both local and national architects had been selected. He said we hoped to be "shovel ready" by the end of September.

I have seen the plans- although they were more pie in the sky plans at the time- not sure it is actively underway. Looked great though.

TC, I'm curious on how our new Indoor football facility will compare to SEC's schools AND how will our new men's/women's basketball facility compare to Ole Miss's new basketball practice facility that they plan to build?
