Birmingham's had a pretty neat idea.

They'll only issue new licenses to brew locally to operations occupying buildings over 50 years old.

It's had some interesting and cool results.

The fact that so many incredible works of American architecture have been razed or rebuilt beyond comprehension makes me wish Americans put more value into historical structures. If there's one thing I envy about Europe, it's the richness of their architectural history. In a few hundred years, I doubt many of America's historic buildings are still standing to give new generations a glimpse into another era.

word. walking around the packard plant was one of the coolest most surreal experiences of my life. so many buildings i wanted to explore

I heard a line a ways back that has always stuck with me.

In England they think a 100 miles is a long way. In America, they think 100 years is a long time.

I'll go ahead and speak for the ones who don't understand, and I'll take the lashing...

What does your saying mean?

I think we are just beginning to value our past.

America has always been about the new. The vanguard, the cutting edge, running, point, shootin' the curl.

It has led us to do great, amazing, world-altering things.

A side effect of that is that, when you're committed to the new, the old takes a beating.

Well, to be fair, we really haven't been around that long to really have a past yet. I mean, there are building some some countries that are older than the US.

I just caught a whiff of aerosol... Weird.

Anyways, you're right. But we've managed to work/build completely past our state of the art technological advancements in the process and it tends to make many things inconvenient and more bothersome than their previous models.
