I think it's a special situation hosting Marshall @ DFS in 2020.....50th anniversary of the plane tragedy. I had always wanted to attend a game in Huntington, and may just do so when ECU travels there in 2021.

That kept us out of the championship game. Marshall and Rice, in back to back years, knocked us out of the championship game and let UCF "back into" the east division title. We held our fate in our hands, but couldn't get it done. That's not to mention the drubbing we took in Huntington this past year.
I can't remember what year, but at home against USM, we had the lead about midway the fourth quarter. They put together the longest, slowest drive I've ever had the misfortune of witnessing to win the game in the final moments. I believe Fletcher was the running back then.
The USM game in Hattiesburg that we one on a last second interception that, to this day, I don't think Golden Eagle fans believe was actually an interception.
Of course, I remember the dagger in the hearts of UTEP fans with the TD pass from Rob Kass with 0:00 on the clock. I think I ran laps around my house after that one.
"The catch" that Marshall made against us. Uggghh.
Though they're leaving too, the our hail Mary catch in the endzone to beat Tulsa with no time left.
That's all just football. Anyway, thanks for the memories. Here's to everybody making new memories and new rivalries.
Are you old enough to remember the USM "forward latteral" for a touchdown on the last play of the game that caused a penalty taking away the touchdown BUT since at that time a game couldn't end on a penalty of any kind, USM got an untimed down after a 5 yard penalty from the point of the latteral and kicked a FG to win. NCAA changed the rule the next year.
Is that the game where one of our fans rushed the field and attacked the ref?
Pretty sure it was. The other thing I will remember about the series is that there were about 8 to 10 years in a row where the visiting team always won. DF became our second best home field advantage.

Message boards are all about the good folks that you meet. CUSA fans are good folks and you're right at the top of that list, stink fist.
USM and Memphis have been associated too long to be separated for long; I'm pretty confident that we'll be conference bros again down the line.

Hate to see ECU -& Memphis go. ECU has always had our upmost respect, especially as being two of the South's best independent football programs pre-C-USA (USM really went to bat for you guys getting into the conference) Steve Logan & Jeff Bower really went at it for a few years. Logan had some great offensive-minded teams that could put up a lot of points in a hurry & you knew it was always going to be a dogfight. Logan was before his time really, & stuck with his DC way too long IMO.
Good luck in the new conference Pirates. Perhaps the old gang will get back together one day, if not we'll see ya later maybe in an OOC game.

One of my favorite moments as a CUSA fan was CJ Wilson block USM's extra point and in Greenville and watch the big fella run it all the way back. That was a big game to help us get to the CUSA championship

The D was fine, it was the BCS killing recruiting, losing our S&C coach to UNC and bust on a 4 star QB. He gave up on recruiting. But, Tim Rose's D's were stout, In 1999 no one score a TD in the fourth quarter till game 7. But, ECU/USM was always a war. Some Epic, epic games even before CUSA.

Thank you CUSA
Good bye C-USA! I wish you all the best of luck in the future. I'm really going to miss the Southern Miss series I hate to see that come to an end. We have had some epic battles over the last 30+ years. My favorite memory of the last 12 years is watching the 07 UTEP game on TV. Watching Kass connect on that last second touchdown, then win it in OT. The Biggest heartbreak was probably the 06 game @UAB where we fumbled on the goalline with 1:12 left in he game losing 17-12, or the beat down in Huntington last year.

Same here. I will Miss Southern Miss. I hear all the stuff today about BYU, and SDSU/Army. I am fine with all that, but I would rather have USM any day. I hope it happens.
Go CUSA! I am always a fan.
