‘Salute The Tea Party Of Texas’: Tea Party Candidates Win Big
Quote:Republican voters appeared ready to push Texas even further to the right Tuesday, backing Tea Party favorites and casting out longtime Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst for a state senator and firebrand radio talk show host who criticized the incumbent as too moderate for one of the state’s most powerful political jobs.

Dan Patrick, who emerged as the front runner from the first round of voting, easily beat Dewhurst in the primary runoff for the GOP nomination, ending the political career of a multimillionaire energy businessman who has been lieutenant governor since 2003. Dewhurst had said this would be his final campaign.

Demographics further bury the GOP establishment.

Hasn't the Tea Party been struggling in most GOP primaries?

When we lived in Cypress my parents hosted Dan when he was running for a state senate seat. He's gone a long way from that living room with 30 people in it. He's still personally an ass hole.

The elephant in the room here that nobody is talking about is Ted Cruz. The freshman senator has gone from an upstart long-shot senate primary candidate up against the forces of forever governor Perry to flipping the largest state of the union in its entirety in just 3 short years. If he isn't the 2016 nominee, he needs to be the head of the GOP. The man knows what he is doing.

So the Texas GOP got rid of an effective legislator to nominate an ineffective blowhard for Lt. Governor. who doesn't pay his debts and changes his name. For AG, they nominated a candidate facing criminal charges. Add Ted Cruz to the mix, who couldn't legislate his way out of a paper bag, and you've got the Dream Team - for the Democrats (who wont win this election, but will peel off some of the country clubbers - who are tired of clowns like Cruz, Paxton, Miller, and Patrick).

Good bye right wing. Hello bat sh*t crazy.

The good news for the Dems is that these guys are going to be really ineffective. And I'd be surprised if there's not an Akin moment in that lineup.

I love the Republican love for Ted Cruz. I hope he gets the nomination in 2016. It would allow the Democrats to cruise to victory in the Presidential Election.

She's been a terrible candidate. Van de Putte would have been better at the top of the ticket.

She's a terrible candidate because she's a terrible human being.
So's Patrick. If Van de Putte had Davis's name recognition, she could give him a run for his money. And Patrick is still capable of doing something mind-numbingly stupid and blowing this thing.
