I'd rather argue over mistaken identity and acronyms that face the reality of being Georgia Regents University. SMH !

Well there it is.

I can't beat you in a spelling contest, Panama.

Maybe our teams should meet in the middle of the field and have a spelling contest instead a flipping a coin. Ok, u win,
you can have the ball first. The score will still be RGSU 51 GSU 17.

Maybe it is obvious to y'all which letters go with what school, but I promise you people who aren't famiar with what you call yourselfes will be making the mistake constantly, even in the Sun Belt like I did when people jumped all over me for apperently making a mistake which I found out wasn't a mistake.

I called GSU, Georgia State in a post about the basketball standings and people starting telling me, Georgia Southern is not in the Sun Belt yet.

So for people who didn't follow FCS football, not many people know what initials Georgia Southern goes by including people who follow the Sun Belt conference.

I'm still confused who goes by what. Me and many sportswriters. You have oldtimers who say, GSU was Georgia Southern until Georgia State got a football team.

Then you have the Sun Belt website calling GSU, Georgia State. If you don't think it will be a problem when football season comes around, I think you're wrong.

We've been called LaLaf, ULL, Ul-L, LOUISIANA, UL LAF amoung others due to poor branding. It's not the Networks fault but the Universities. The Networks are so confused what to call us after 15 yrs. Even our own Media guide uses different names in it.

So if you don't think the Media will have a problem, just wait to you are watching a football game and GSU will be on the scoreboard for both schools. Just a heads up, I could be wrong.

I promise you ASU, Arkansas State won't be too happy if Appalachian state starts going by ASU.

Then you have coaches in the Sun Belt who refer to us as Lafayette in their press conferences. It wouldn't be a major problem if there wasn't another school called Lafayette.

This has already happened numerous times before we joined the SBC. The schools have exisitng branding. Commentators still get it wrong even outside of the GSU accronym. Cant do anything about lazy commentators. Now if we are playing each other on an ESPN channel and the scoreboard on TV says GSU for both, well we cannot account for stupid. I think both schools have bigger issues and I think winning cures this minute issue.

Like I said just add an "R" to GSU - RGSU & it will be clear

You know when it became apparent that we would be in a conference with Idaho, two things occurred to me, well actually more than two.
For one thing I confused you guys with Idaho State ( aka Potato State ), then I recalled y'all were the Vandals.
Secondly, every time y'all get a mention, that B52s song "Private Idaho" comes to mind. You know the lyrics
"You been living in your own private Idaho, living in your own private Idaho, underground like a wild potato, don't run on the patio" . LOL !

http://youtu.be/9vOPFGHV1sQ

So even y'all have a Georgia connection, being that that big wig band originated in Athens, GA.
Third, that's the ugliest dome I've ever seen, why not build an outdoor stadium ?
If Montana and Montana State can play outside, surely y'all can as well.

Could be:

Arizona State University

Branding dictated that we stopped using ASU when joining the SBC.
GSU and GS are going to be confused until you both use something else.
But like preaching to the choir I know this just doesn't matter to posters.
Georgia State is happy to use GSU, but even the conference writers get confused.
sTaTe would not be appropriate with the double TT's.
Anyway that's why I either spell it out or use GaSt and GaSo.
Posters on other boards or outside a lot of times talk about the real GSU.
Would really help to ID and not have any confusion.
Look bub. The official branding is

Georgia Southern - GS Eagles
Georgia State - GSU Panthers

Nothing is changing

Figured that.
Georgia State is more than happy to use GSU.
Unfortunately the rest of the world will continue to wonder who anyone is talking about.

The rest of the world has no idea what any of "these Division II SBC are doing."

Totally true, does anyone ever use G State?

Could be:
Appalachian State University
Arkansas State University
Arizona State University
Alabama State University
or several others.

Was on the club football team helmet. Not sure it was ever in use other than that.

They are so confused what to call us.

That's confusing!

Just imagine how he must feel...imagine what a Cajun must feel like being in Idaho. Why doesn't Idaho play outside anyways? Isn't it fairly dry there?

Wyoming, Montana and Montana State play outside. Washington State is 8 miles away. I am growing more confused.

ThUGA abandoned the block G years ago, a block G with "STATE" arching across the front would look good. That GSU helmet though, nah.

It would make a trip there more attractive I think. There is some pretty dramatic scenery in the state.

Yeah that's kinda what I was thinking. It would be a bit more attractive than another Panther/Cat logo. The NCAA should force 95% of the schools with cat or dog mascots to rebrand. There are simply too many out there.
