What about getting a baseball tv contract like the SEC and the other top leagues.

One topic already mentioned by the participants is development plans for the Miami Bowl.

I agree that getting some baseball games televised would be nice. We had zero televised on ESPN this year. We need to push for a few on ESPN-U, and a some ESPN-3 games. At the very least, a 20 game package on the digital network needs to happen. This is likely to be a fairly good baseball league with the influx of southern schools.

lol...It certainly is at SMU. I wish you guys would just find a suitable place near campus to play and start a team. Too much good talent in Dallas/Ft Worth for you guys not to be involved. Maybe N Texas starting a team will get you guys moving in that direction.

Baseball is easily the 3rd most popular sport at ucf. I watch the Braves spring training and they can pull 12k or more for meaningless practice games. By far it is isn't dead.

Agreed and it has killed a lot of other men's sports at the collegiate level as well.

If you are female and you can golf, do gymnasitcs, play soccer, run or swim there is no reason you should not have a full ride somewhere. Too bad my daughter is a book worm.

Agree with the bolded point. You might have to shop around a little and move to a different part of the country, but there are schools that will offer a female a scholarship to play a sport.

One thing that I think hinders a lot of women is that they lose interest. My wife was an excellent soccer player up until the 11th grade. She once scored five goals in a varsity high school game. When she turned 16 she decided, in her own words, "that hair, makeup and boys" took precedence. She stopped playing sports.

Even today, at age 38, my wife is a good athlete. I am often amazed when she is thrust into a sporting competition how well she competes. Her father played baseball at Ohio State and in the Cleveland Indians organization. Her uncles all played college baseball as well.

Spring training crowds are as much about a vacation in Florida as they are going to a game. Look at all the struggling teams in attendance now... Miami and Tampa are a great example, as are the Braves, who are watching crowds at home dwindling. So much so, that the Braves are planning to move out of Atlanta and into the northern burbs in a smaller stadium with more luxury/entertainment options to offset the sliding fan attendance in their less than 20 year old ballpark.

Yep, I went to school on a tennis scholarship...kicking and screaming. I really wanted to focus on school and boys.03-cloud9, but got waitlisted for my major (engineering). Once I accepted the partial scholarships (athletic & academic), I was in like flint (B1G/AAU school). In the end, it didn't matter as I changed my major to actuarial science...which I don't use in my current career. :/ But, I had fun and made lifelong friends/contacts!

Whoa, whoa, whoa...someone seems to have goten a little too butthurt about baseball.

I will leave you, sir, with a message from my favorite comedian:

"In Football, you wear a helmet. In Baseball, you wear a cap.

Football is concerned with downs. What down is it? Baseball is concerned with ups. Who’s up? Are you up? I’m not up. He is up.

In Football, you receive a penalty. In Baseball, you make an error. Whoops!

Football is played in any kind of weather, rain, sleet, snow, hail, mud, can’t read the numbers on the field, can’t read the yard markers, can’t read the players numbers, the struggle will continue. In Baseball, if it rains, we don’t come out to play. “I can’t come out to play. It’s raining out.”

In Football, the object is for the quarterback, otherwise known as the field general, to be on target with his aerial assault riddling the defense by hitting his receivers with deadly accuracy in spite of the blitz even if he has to use the shotgun. With short bullet passes and long bombs, he marches his troops into enemy territory, balancing his aerial assault with a sustained ground attack, which punches holes in the forward wall of the enemies’ defensive line.

In Baseball, the object is to go home, and to be safe. I hope I’ll be safe at home, safe at home."

Baseball may be slowly fading on the professional level but college baseball has been hot and growing particularly in the south, southwest and west coast. The SEC has five teams in the NCAA regionals and college baseball is being covered by the top sports cable channels except AAC coverage. Aresco this needs to change.

Football is the only sport that has to constantly remind its players there is to many men on the field. SMH, dumbest group of athletes in sports.

And yet I still prefer football to baseball...
