43. It will be interesting to watch. Can't believe he will be at full strength, but even factoring that in, I think he is the best option. Can't take any risks with the first two games.

Not much different from what he would have thrown in his mid-week bullpen session anyway, correct?

Yes...just added stress throwing in a game.

He threw 43 game pitches on Sunday afternoon and will throw again on Friday evening: 5 days between starts. It's the postseason....

Though our lineup rarely does this (it usually take at least the 3rd or 4th inning before it gets on track), the ideal situation is for us to jump out to a big, early lead so that The OG can pull Kevin after 5 innings, and let McCarthy and Orewiler get an early taste of post-season pitching. That would enable McCanna to be available on Monday or even Sunday in relief, if necessary.

An early lead would certainly be beneficial for the pitching staff, the bigger the better.
