The ultimate delima
Which team to pull for/against as Dook takes on Notre Dame in the lacrosse championship.
I hope they both lose!

I did what I do every year. I ignored it altogether and watched Lincoln instead. Helluva film!

Damn, you are old, XLance!
My paternal grandfather didn't root for "Lincoln's Team" either. He was still an infant over in Ireland (born June 23, 1864) at the end during the American Civil War.
My paternal grandmother was not born there until 1868.
My maternal grandparents were born in 1870 and 1874 in Germany.
So, my ancestors missed out on that war, although they emigrated later to the North from Europe.
My guess is that they were happy with the outcome of that war in their later years, though.

We were somewhat more conflicted in my family. All four sides found service in the Confederacy, but we had some in service of the Union as well. Two sides found service in the American Revolution, and one qualifies my wife and daughters as Colonial Dames (though none have joined). And on one side of my family (the side we share with H.L. Hunt) we have survivors of the Trail of Tears.
