Not bad for the two northernmost programs in the ACC.
'Cuse commit Davante Davis from Miami has blown up since committing. He's gotten offers from Alabama, Georgia, Illinois, Louisville, Miami, Miss State, Ohio State, South Carolina, Virginia, Wisconsin, and West Virginia all since his commitment to Syracuse on May 6th.

And this is why I could see over the next 5 years, the ACC surpassing the SEC in football. I think you are going to see a lot of middle of the pack schools in the ACC have lots of success. I can see multiple schools winning the conference championship and not just the same few every time.

Woah, let's be realistic. We aren't passing the SEC in the next 5 years. We probably passed the B1G, and we're close to the Big XII and Pac 12, but we are still way behind the SEC. We could be #2, though, if we have any luck.

Nice to see you have success with your targets. You have a solid class so far.
One of the problems with examining classes at such an early date is that in may cases it is heavily influenced in quantity of recruits instead of quality. The top recruiting schools may not have closed with the higher-ranked prospects yet.
A perfect example of this is my school, Clemson. We are currently rated with the #3 (Rivals evals) class in the nation, and we still have several 4-star commits for which we have legitimate shots. However, we also have nine 3 stars committed. I can glance at the ratings and know that several other schools with more 4 and 5 star recruits, but less numbers overall, will pass us as the year progresses. In our case, I think we have a legitimate shot at a top-10 class, but, realistic people will understand that a top-5 class is not a true possibility.
I have a lot of respect for what the coach at BC has accomplished with regard to recruiting. His "Be a Dude" deal was kinda quirky when I first heard of it last year, but it seems to be working. It has given them a recruiting identity. Clemson has one too. Recruits talk about Clemson's family atmosphere, faith, high-octane offense, "special" campus (things recruits constantly mention).
I honestly did not know what to expect from Schaeffer's (sp?) crew in regards to recruiting. It looks like he has a solid start. As to identity, I know from reading fan boards that hard-nosed is a buzzword. That may be the recruiting angle (I honestly don't know), or it may be a fan-generated deal. Is the organization forming another angle, or is hard-nosed the one?
What the hell is Franklin selling at Penn State? He has an unreal recruiting haul developing this year.

In Shafer's introductory press conference he said that Syracusans are hard-nosed people who want a hard-nosed football team. It's stuck ever since. It's definitely more of a fan recruiting angle; trying to get those back who were turned off by our former chancellor telling fans to get a life and the horrendous Robinson years.

thats great however
look at the top fifty ranking at this moment in time, 13 out of the 14 teams of the SEC are ranked. ACC clemson, fsu, unc, syracuse, miami bc seven out of 14; So roughly its the SEC and the rest where all the rest are averaging about 6-7 members each in the top 50.
The key is the acc teams winning the big time OOC games, we all know them AND winning the bowl games against the equity conferences. (IE VT needs to do better against UCLA).
It takes about 3 -4 years of constant winning to change perception

This is true. Before Greg Robinson, Syracuse would regularly reel in classes between top 25 - top 40 . But when you only win between 1 and 4 games a season over a 5 year period, it destroys your fb reputation and perception. HC Scott Shafer is doing a really good job of shaking off that bad perception. I dont expect SU to stay at #32 when its all said and done. Unless they they are able to hang on to recruits that are blowing up, I expect SU to have another top 50 class this season. But if SU ends up with the kind of season that I think they will, I think in the future they will regularly start to recruit top 20-top 30 classes.
I read an article once that said that for a 14 year period when SU was going to big bowls and a national title contender, they very seldomley would recruit top 25 classes

It's early guys. And if some of the under-the-radar recruits blow up in their senior years, you can bet BC and SU won't hold onto to a lot of them when the big boys come calling in the fall.
Cheers,
Neil

It's early to be acting like Cuse and BC will end with top 35 classes. Out of the top 75, the only schools they rank ahead of in terms of average stars are Rice, Tulane, Rutgers, UTSA, FAU, WMU, La Tech, CMU, Houston, ECU, Duke, UC, Miami U, NIU, ODU, Ark St, UAB, OR St.
That's pretty mediocre company. Cuse and BC's current star averages are pretty close to their final averages for 2014. They finished 50th and 52nd in 2014.
