Update on New Football Stadium
Pardon me if this is posted somewhere else but I am looking to get an update on where the new football stadium stands. I remember the State Assembly was trying to make it so student fees couldn't be used to pay for the stadium which would have put a huge crimp in ODU's plans. Did that fail? If so when would construction start and are there any preliminary drawings of the new stadium?

All I know is that at the caravan, Dr Selig enthusiastically touted how ODU fans would be able to come to games in their boats at the new stadium.

They seemed pretty comfortable with the fact it would get don't pretty much in their time frame and the way they wanted it done.

Help me out, you nautical types: what's the boating equivalent to a "tailgate"?

A "stern plank" perhaps?

"Rafting up". That's where 2 or more boats tie up tight to each other, and people hop from boat to boat partying.

Hopefully ODU nautical tailgates will look like this!

That's how they do it at Neiland Stadium in Knoxville Tennessee and the fans really seem to have a blast. I'm hoping that the Admin approves this.

Very cool! All that is needed are beer-cooler-equipped jet skis operated by bikini-clad vendors.

I don't have a boat but i hope they have some nice slips they can charge for parking. Wood seemed all fired up about this boating business.

I have a 17' bowrider runabout. Not much of a yacht, but it still can be used to party!

Oh yeah man You Tube has some pretty extensive video of boatgating at University of Tennessee and University of Washington. It we can tap into the boating market in the Tidewater area that would be outstanding. 17 footer will definately get you around.

I love the idea of boats being able to pull up tailgate and watch the game even if I don't have a boat. No matter what I am very excited about our future with the new stadium. Can't wait to see drawings of it and eventually watch a game there.

One hugely proud alumnus.
