University of Louisiana - Lafayette : ready made rivalry with Tech, as well as MT and WK, money sports just keep getting better, probably the best fan support.
Arkansas State : established rivals with MT and WK, football is trending up despite the quick coaching changes, most importantly new territory.
Georgia State : rival with ODU, basketball is getting better, football will too eventually, media market (downtown ATL), new territory.
Texas State : best candidate only if we lose UTEP,
Nowhere to go but up. Jr will go to the league and Papa Bear will find himself a better paying job. Giving away tix to a 1500 "arena" (used loosely) will not sustain a program. They found a good coach and lucked into a few good transfers, but this will not last. Football has a long way to go. GSU can shove their media market.

I wonder if tx state would get considered over LA for a CUSA invite.

Um, let's ask all of the other WKU fans what they feel about that. Every time they've been to MT or I've been to LA all ULL fans I've encountered have been welcoming and respectful. Here at MT they have a rep for being some of the best fans we've ever interacted with. It should not and does not change for WKU, at least I'd think/hope.

Well my interaction was at our first win in our FBS era. That came against the Cajuns. When we all stormed the field, one of their players shoulder checked one of our students. Kid never saw it coming, didn't provoke it at all. At the beginning of the game their fans were extremely hateful and a group had to be removed from the student section at the opposite end of the field from their fan section.
Their players were the most undisciplined I have ever seen (scratch that, tied with FAU). The players were constantly exchanging abuses with fans. Coaches had to drag them back into position meetings every time they came off the field. Was a complete fares from where it was sitting.
You're not the first person to post complaints about their fans. To some extent, I discount such comments as sour grapes... but at the same time, I see people posting the same thing over and over again and think there must be something to it.

The fans are great I person tailgating but rotten when they step away from that with the UL nonsense, the LSU envy, and NOLA bashing..
But man is tailgate hospitality wonderful.

I would love it for ULL to be added to the conference make up. They would def help our image this time of year but I fear the football success will be short lived once hudspeth leaves. They really do have great fans that are passionate and want there team to improve their perception. I think thats why ULL and Tech fans are bitter at each other, both fan bases hate the little brother image of LSU. But Tech will always be just a cut above the cajuns even if they do some how win in September!

I don't think CUSA will lose anybody, but even if they did, why not just shrink back to 12?

That's the number C-USA should've stopped upon. In a major rush to replace the defectors (and secure his position), BB fell into the fools gold of big markets. Twelve teams are a good manageable number where real rivals could've developed & perhaps some name recognition for the conference.
Overall. Banowsky has been little short of a disaster regarding the conference.

I agree 12 would have been a good number. Some on this board question the "large market" expansion strategy. I don't agree with them. I think C-USA needs programs in large markets. Since you seem unhappy with the strategy, which large market additions do you feel were bad additions?

Good to see that you have carried all of your Baloney from the Sun Belt Board to the CUSA Board......
Were you at either of the games in BG? If so were you sitting at 30 yd line near the null? Did you run onto the field with the WKU students a few years back? Didn't think so. You have no idea what happened.

RE: Somebody explain to me how Lafayette isn't in CUSA yet
Always good to hear and read positive talk about the Cajuns. Obviously, we are having outstanding success this year.
Will host regionals in both of the spring sports. Went to the NCAA and will have a first round NBA draft pick. And are coming off our 3rd consecutive bowl victory.
I think the concerns of many Cajun fans are the same as many on this board (1) can we keep football going after Hud (2) can we return basketball to its 90s and early 2000s prominence. (3) Can we leverage current success into larger budget.
I think playing Tech, USM, WKU, UAB, Rice and UAB would help the program. We don't miss a whole lot by not playing the Florida schools IMO.

Watched ULL softball game and I couldn't believe the crowd. Bigger crowds than other big name teams.

There's no need. Everyone knows which schools we took and which schools we didn't take.
CUSA and the Sun Belt both have dealt with the dichotomy between the urban market-based programs and the more rural schools with tradition. Each round of conference-building has included some of both, but I will say that the urban schools do little for us other than helping to pay the bills for a few years before they move on.

A big part of the UTSA add was keeping UTEP. I doubt UTSA will stay five years, though, and what happens then?
