In the American tournament. Rutgers slaughtered USF yesterday 10-0. Next up is Memphis tomorrow at 11 AM EDT followed by a Louisville matchup on Saturday at 3 PM EDT. Rutgers baseball are now winners of 11 of their last 12 games.

I reckon baseball is one of the sports where Rutgers may be looking at a step down in intensity of conference competition ~ certainly a step sideways at most. As far as my limited understanding of college baseball goes, the evolution of the American toward a "Southern Ivy" has meant the addition of some quite serious baseball schools.

They are but not all of them. Ohio State has already been eliminated after losing to Nebraska yesterday and Illinois today and neither one of their games aired on BTN.

Its definitely one of the sports I anticipate being competitive in right from the start. Traditionally we have one of the better northern programs. The last several years have been up and down (mostly down). But we have the conference co-rookie of the year and a number of players returning from a team that's getting hot at the right time.

RE: Big Ten Baseball tournament underway
So the #1 and #2 seeds have won their brackets, while the #3 seed Illinois and #4 seed Minnesota have been eliminated, along with #7 seed OSU and #8 seed Iowa.

Which means its semifinal Saturday, winners out of the "losers" brackets cross over: the two teams from the winners brackets only require one win, the two teams from the losers brackets require two, so if the scheduled game goes to the team from the loser's bracket, there's a playoff game following.

See BTN and BTN2Go for games.

#5 TSUN v #2 Nebraska, Nebraska 6-1 (TSUN X)
#6 MSU v #1 Indiana, Indiana 7-4 (MSU X)
