Prayers/thoughts requested
My Dad passed away this morning....he had been in the hospital for about a week, but it still comes as no less of a shock to me & my Mom. I'm an only child, so this has been a crash course in dealing with things I've never had to deal with.

My dad was the kindest, funniest guy you'd ever know. My 4 year old son may not fully understand what's going on, but he understands that he wants to see his Granddad again, and it just kills me.

We would appreciate your good thoughts and/or prayers.

You do have my thoughts and prayers. As an only child myself I've already walked this path and it's no picnic but you can and will make it through.

Stay strong for your mom and for your son, but don't be afraid to cry yourself.

Bless you and your family.

TG, it's never easy to lose a parent.

My only advice after the services are over is to continually remind yourself of the good times shared with them whenever you feel a bit weepy about their passing...while it doesn't make the hurt go away completely, it puts a bit of happiness into your otherwise heavy heart.

You are in my thoughts and prayers. My dad died 3 years at Thanksgiving and it was a complete shock. The grief is overwhelming.

TG, very sorry to hear of your loss. I lost my Dad in 1975. Lost my Mom two years ago. My prayers go out to your family, and your son. You just have to think of the good stuff. I know it sounds corny. I've told my two daughters, every corny thing my parents ever said to me. You will too. My prayers go out to you and your family.

I'm very sorry for your loss, and can relate to losing a Dad unexpectedly after a brief hospital stay, with my kids not understanding there won't ever be another visit with Grandaddy.

Your mother and you have my most sincere condolences, well-wishes and prayers. I'm truly sorry.

I'm very sorry for your loss.

I'm an only child as well. Not easy carrying that burden.

I lost my Dad in 1992. My Mom lived another 20 years.

I found it far easier to deal with the grief by celebrating my Dad's life not his death.

It prepared me and my wife and children even more for the loss of my Mom.

My Dad is who got me into Tiger basketball....I remember I had a cabbage patch kid (it was the 80's, after all) who a lady at church had made a little MSU cheerleading outfit for. Dad would place that doll on the corner of his recliner seat during games, and if things were going bad or the game was getting tight, he would swap the side she was sitting on to turn the tide. He was shooting baskets outside with my 4 year old just 2 days before he went in the hospital.

A great, great Dad and Granddad.

Thanks to everyone for their kind thoughts & prayers.
