This is even the case when the hours between pitching divided by 24 might be more. e.g. pitching an afternoon game on Saturday and then an evening game on Wednesday would only be three days rest (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday), even though more than 96 hours elapsed between pitching appearances.

Yep and thanks.

I've seen MLB managers do it enough in the postseason (mainly one Larussa, Tony) to be painfully aware of the calendar mechanics.

At least at that level, it seems to rarely work (putting aside even the arm abuse aspect).

For once, instead of worrying about everything that we can't control, just go for the jugular and let things sort themselves out.

Fortunately, I think our team does a better job of this than our fan base. And I know WG does.

First off, UTSA has two closers (Onda and Simms), both of whom pitched in Game 1 today. Second, they have 3 other quality relievers. Having said that, Hartsen is their hot pitcher, and though he threw 120 some odd pitches on Wednesday, it's all or nothing for UTSA, and he has had 4 days rest. I'd be very surprised if Hartsen doesn't get the start, though not clear how long he'll go. We actually did not do that badly against him, but were our usual inefficient selves the first 7 innings, leaving a bunch of runners on base...and then it was like we fell asleep after Aquino's misplay gave them a 2-run lead in the 8th inning.

I remember Hartsen's day a little differently. He only gave up 5 hits and he struck out 8. I thought he handled us pretty well. I stood behind home plate for a while and watched his stuff. He was the real deal. Expect a dogfight. These guys don't wear camo hats for the fashion statement. Here's hoping Hartsen's heroism ends today.

Go Owls 05-mafia

The dude was a stud today. UTSA will be a good addition to CUSA baseball.
