3rd Infantry Division (United States)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3rd_Infantr...ed_States)

Quote:The 3rd Infantry Division (nicknamed the "Rock of the Marne") is a United States Army infantry division based at Fort Stewart, Georgia. It is a direct subordinate unit of the XVIII Airborne Corps and U.S. Army Forces Command. Its current organization includes four brigade combat teams, one aviation brigade, and support elements.

This is so relevant today. The 3rd Infantry Division is where I spent the majority of my 10 year career in the military... a career that ended 3 years ago today when I donned the uniform for the last time. I'll never forget the time I spent there. From fighting in the Iraq war to the brotherhood shared with my fellow Soldiers, it molded me into who I am today. Thanks Pat. This coincidence made my day.

The Dog Face Soldier Song:

"I Wouldn't Give A Bean
To Be A Fancy Pants Marine
I'd Rather Be A
Dog Face Soldier Like I Am

I Wouldn't Trade My Old-O D's
For All The Navy's Dungarees
For I'm The Walking Pride
Of Uncle Sam

On Army Posters That I Read
It Says "Be All That You Can"
So They're Tearing Me Down
To Build Me Over Again

I'm Just A Dog Face Soldier
With A Rifle On My Shoulder
And I Eat Raw Meat
For Breakfast E'V'RY Day

So Feed Me Ammunition
Keep Me In The Third Division
Your Dog Face Soldier's A-Okay"

HOOAH!

I spent a good portion of my military crew in proximity to and serving (at the 1-2-3 Club on Ft. Myer) members of the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard).

BOTTOMS UP!
04-cheers

Pat, that's one fine looking vehicle. Trust you will be working on the vanilla exterior. Looking forward to checking it out at the Ball State Game. Do you have any plans for the Iowa State game?

I have nephew that served in the Big Red One. I just recorded the Big Red One movie staring Lee Marvin. But I thought that the Big Red One was disbanded for a short time and then reactivated after 9/11

RE: Just One More Wake-up to Go...
Zero, just a Wakeup to Go!!!

"Saved by Zero" (song)

A song with a good guitar riff...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saved_by_Zero

Quote:"Saved by Zero" is a song by British new wave band The Fixx. Released in 1983, it was the lead single off their second album, Reach the Beach, and is one of the group's best known hits. Their signature song is the follow-up single "One Thing Leads to Another."

An extended 4:24 version of "Saved by Zero" is included as a bonus track on the 2003 reissue of Reach the Beach. The song was featured in the fourth season of TV series Breaking Bad.

"Saved by Zero" features a repetitive, jittery guitar riff and corresponding bass. It features a soothing yet haunting presentation with its ghostly vocals and dark atmosphere. Lyrically, "Saved by Zero" is a reference to the Buddhist mantra Śūnyatā. Fixx frontman Cy Curnin reflected on its meaning in a 2008 interview:

"It was about looking at your own life, not so much about amassing material things but about experiences that lend you to be blissful... The song was written from the point of view of the release you get when you have nothing left to lose. It’s sort of a meditation. It clears your head of all fears and panics and illusions and you get back to the basics, which is a Buddhist mantra, which I practiced back then, and which I still do. The idea of the song is how great it is to get back to zero."

Maybe someday
Saved by zero
I'll be more together
Stretched by fewer

Thoughts that leave me
Chasing after
My dreams disown me
Loaded with danger

So maybe I'll win
Saved by zero
Maybe I'll win
Saved by zero

Holding onto
Words that teach me
I will conquer
Space around me

So maybe I'll win
Saved by zero
Maybe I'll win
Saved by zero

Maybe I'll win
Saved by zero
Maybe I'll win
Saved by zero

Saved by zero
Saved by zero
