You have exactly 4 more years of "history" (full conference affiliation) with Houston as you do with UTEP....

let me guess... You are a Houston fan who wants Houston to leave the AAC and go to the MWC.

Hell no. The MWC is a deathtrap.

The only program worth adding is BYU, IMO... If BYU refuses to join the AAC, I say we remain as we are, at 12 program conference.

Of course the only program that actually adds value right now is BYU.

The only reason we would even entertain adding any 14th program is for the sake of divisional symmetry.

Or possibly if BYU stipulated it (for travel reasons, etc).

I would be so tempted especially if they had a good year in football this year to show continued progress- to take New Mexico to pair with BYU. Add New Mexico and BYU to the AAC now- makes the basketball that much stronger- especially if a bb only is added in the east(say VCU).

IMO don't take BYU because then we'd have two cougar teams.

basketball is strong enough...football is key and unm is dead weight ..and if we do basketball id take unlv before unm

I'll take those three minus Air Force. If you want to solidify your position, then kill off your closest competition. Worked for the ACC.

if byu comes, sdsu is almost a lock as the partner (top market, already have a relationship with our AD's/commish, they already have some teams in our league and require the least swaying)

Agree. I don't like the Air Force add. BYU, SDSU, UNLV, and Fresno.

I'd love for BYU to join. Seeing byu fans on bourbon gives me fits every time it happens.

BYU - no brainer

Air Force - no brainer with a national brand which should bring eyes for aac programming

sdsu - good market, budget, great basketball, etc

Unlv - fairly good market, travel designation, good Basketball, etc. Football is in the dumps but they will be building a dome that should spur excitement

The AAC w/ BYU would get raided the moment the ACC or Big 12 needed a new member. That would leave any MWC defector high and dry.

Air Force is probably the one school who could "get away" with it if they had to go back, if only because of the way they handle themselves. BSU and SDST were able to go back. I think they would take them back if that scenario unfolded AND AFA decided to go back. However I think with Navy there, they probably would ride it out.

I think you're right, the defectors could probably seek asylum in the MWC in the case of a raid of the AAC, mainly because the MWC wouldn't have much of a choice. They are all in that boat together, for better or worse. It doesn't help them to hold grudges since they all benefit from their each others inclusion.

In lieu of a Big 12 / BYU marriage, it sounds like all the ingredients needed to convince BYU to join up with the American. At this point I wouldn't even care who #14 is. Any of the usual suspects mentioned would be just fine and IMHO, collectively with continued success on the field and court, this conference would be setting itself up nicely during the lookin period or at least have much more savvy going into contract renewal talks with ESPN.

#14 Air Force football only

04-cheers Would be just fine.........................
