Hopefully next year the Sun Belt will bounce back. Last year (2013) the Sun Belt was #5 ranked conference and had 4 teams with RPIs of 35 or below and 5 teams with RPIs under 100.

This team (as last year) didn't have the sense of need to not let off while sitting in 3rd; like past teams. Those guys (Atwood, McVaney, Sibley, et al)* never let off the gas until the last out in the conference tournament (or in Regionals). Not sure if it is the team or the coaching staff but someone needs to kick their butts.

When they* lost in the 2012 tourney they were devastated. I don't see this team having that kind of dedication.

CatMom speaking of uniforms I watched the TAMU softball game yesterday and they had the same Astros uniforms as y'all do. Didn't work for them either.

yes, I was surprised at the last two shutouts. uta has not had much good pitching this year. combine that with an inconsistent offense and you see why we have not had as good a year as we were hoping for.

Don't forget we had to replace two of our top programs with a couple strong programs, but ones in downswings overall. Throw in that USA and Troy lost a ton of talent and you get what happened.

Next year could be interesting. ASU, Texas State, UTA, Troy, and USA all return an absolute ton of talent, while GSU coming in brings their highly rated program with them. Only the Cajuns lose a lot...

Troll alert. Thought you were a basketball school and you didn't make the postseason. Ergo you aren't a basketball school by your logic.

Take Rice out of CUSA and they have didly squat for a baseball tradition. Maybe USM years ago.

I disagree-FAU and FIU have had top 25 teams in the recent past with tourney success.

Those universities have only had recent periods of success. Rice is the only consistent baseball power in CUSA. If the AAC takes Rice then CUSA has no one that can pound their chest about baseball. That's the fact Jack!!!

Anytime I talk about past success (tradition) most posters say recent is all that counts to recruits and fans.Guess it depends on your perspective.

FIU has had a few down years in a row by their standards. Missed the NCAA's the last two seasons, and a third coming unless the CUSA 8th seed pulls off an amazing tourney run.

Rice is the kind of team that considers not going to the CWS as a failure for the season. You are going to find out soon about them. Their coach has been there forever. They have won the national championship and made multiple CWS appearances. Their success has been recent and past.
