animus,

Do you know from any locals if Boyd is running with the 1's for PR/ KR for the upcoming season?

I believe him and Pitts are the #1 KR's and I believe Jones will be the PR.

RE: Tyler Boyd article
Clairton will certainly be in contention and likely to start the season in the top three state wide. Got a couple of young players coming up with Pitt and WVU offers already and likely to get a plethora more being that one is currently a So. and the other a Fr.

Hype Vid

Pitt's secondary looks to have at least 1 Clairton kid starting at CB in a battle between two grads in Titus Howard and Trenton Coles, and it appears that Terrish Webb is slotted to be the starting SS. Not bad for a school that graduates no more than 50 kids a year.

As for Boyd, I wonder how much his talents will be impacted by what I consider a huge question mark at QB.

Also, Bout Dat...?

You down on Voytik? Not a blue-chip QB, but serviceable, IMO.

Boyd is the truth, though.

Voytik was a blue chip prospect. I see no reason to doubt he'll pan out, either, since he has such limited experience.

I stand corrected - sounds like he IS a blue-chipper

RE: Tyler Boyd article
Thanks CP. Nothing against Jones but I hope they can work Boyd into the PR game as well.

As an aside, an argument can be made for Voytik to be just as effective as Savage. Maybe more so. Savage might have a problem evading a grandmother. Given the bumpy O line Voytik will be a fresh difference. He's probably as experienced given Savage's long winding road to last season.

People get hung up on Tom's remarkable arm strength and protypical NFL size. Well, he led us to 6-6 season last year. Looked great in some games. Yikes in a few others.

If Pitt's O line gets the Wisky thing down this year look out. Otherwise, more "Detroit".

I'm "down" on Pitt having a "good" QB for 2014.

Even if Voytik is down, I'm sure that Chryst will find ways to get the ball into Boyd's hands. I think Voytik will end up being better than Savage. My issue's with Pitt is our OLine and DLine. I think the OLine will be better but boy the DLine has issues.

RE: Tyler Boyd article
You have to get the ball in his hands. Will teams just double cover him now that there's no Street?

I'm sure he will get double covered. Things like WR screens, Jet Sweeps, Wildcat and such will be ways to get the ball into his hands. Plus a strong running game will be beneficial to get Safety's to cheat on the run game to open him up down field. (easier said than done, I know)

RE: Tyler Boyd article
Street missed the final four games of 2013. That's a red herring. It had no effect on Boyd the final four games. Garner is an experienced RSSR who started those four games. On top of that, Pitt's TE group might only lag FSU's. Plenty of options ...lol.
