If ND joined , and that is a Big if, the ACC in Football, I could see ESPN kicking up the ACC contract by at least 5 million per school as that would be in the SEC, B1G range for National viewership overnight. They would love to bring down NBC.

Yes, I think that it will expand to eight teams.

I think that it will be the top five conference champs and three wild cards.

As long as it is theoretically possible for ND to qualify as a wild card, I don't think that it will impact ND's status, at all.

Only a mandated conference only champions playoff will do that, in my opinion.

I'd don't see why that would not be doable. ESPN would benefit from the additional ACC home games with ND and wouldn't have to pay ND a dime.

I don't see ND surrendering independence, though, unless joining a conference becomes either 1) the only way to qualify for the CFP or (possibly) 2) a substantially easier road to qualifying for the CFP than garnering an at large bid.

Agree with all those who say that the ACC needs to stop acting like anything it can do is going entice Notre Dame into the conference. All that does is allow Notre Dame to leverage it's wants and desires without actually having to commit it's football program.

I actually can envision a scenario in which Notre Dame could decide to join the ACC in football, but it's not going to be about anything the ACC does, it will be outside forces and what Notre Dame feels is best for it's program. If and when that day comes, then the ACC should be willing to be flexible. As far as I'm concerned, other than requiring ND to play a full conference schedule, everything else can be on the table for discussion. But not one day before. Notre Dame needs to buy the cow if it wants the milk.

I know how to get ND to join tomorrow. All we have to do is not have a name and change our logo to natural grass. The ND faithful will riot to join.

You'd have a better chance of getting both Maryland (how I wish) and South Carolina back on board than ND. I still think your best bet is to flip West Virginia and Penn State, two large public schools. Of course this would be a long term project.

I actually think ND will eventually join. It won't be for a while, though.

Believe it or not, over the air is a big deal for ND.

They want every fan to be able to watch ND home games, even those without cable or satellite.

Why the hell are people so caught up on adding South Carolina? They aren't that great of an addition. There are probably 15 better options.

There's no chance the non-power schools are left out of the auto-bid process, assuming FBS hasn't split.

I don't think you're being honest when you say conference auto-bids would have no impact "at all", but whatever.
