RE: Lindy's picks Marshall & UTSA for CUSA
I kinda feel bad for NMST. How can that program be so bad year over year? If I was an alum I would riot.
UAB is not that bad either. Idaho over them?

I'm not concerned about the pundits. UTSA has gotten zero love but that will change with quality wins, conference championships and bowl victories.

Really Charlotte? Bahahaha
Yes really. Every time one of these "power rankings" or "indexes" is posted UTSA fans are the first to pull a Rodney Dangerfield.
Haha I'm grinning because this is a great and accurate characterization. While it is true that we have outperformed expectations each year (8-4, 7-5) and therefore "don't get no respect," it's also true that Rodney Dangerfield is how our fans have reacted. But really, is it any different than ODU fans and Taylor Heinicke?
Counterpoint: take a look at the posts in this thread and see that some people STILL don't give us a shot, even though last year we lost to the conference champ by two missed field goals. We fell out of the Championship Game by a mere tiebreaker scenario on the last Saturday. We have more starters back than anyone. And this prediction is not justified? The West is deep but I see three legitimate preseason contenders - Rice, North Texas, UTSA. I wouldn't begrudge a pundit for picking any of those.
Congratulations on your new program. I look forward to Charlotte joining us next year and I wish you great success.

A very smart and respectful post. Right now, on paper, Rice and UTSA are the clear favorites to win the west. After an OOC game or two, that could change, but right now, UTSA and Rice deserve the most attention in the west.

I give UTSA plenty of credit and have since the first time I saw the team play in Ruston. I understand being an underdog, but I feel the aggressive indigence is a little misplaced. We're all underdogs in this league in some way or another, if someone doesn't believe in you then get used to it.

I am picking UTSA to win the west due to what they have coming back, however at the end of the day it almost always comes down to QB play at our level. We don't have dominant enough lines or defenses to hide poor QB play. Your QB can look great in practices, but until you see him in live action you don't know if he will be the man or not.
I just think Rice lost too much, but if their new QB outperfoms UTSA's new QB they could win the west.

I agree with your logic. UTSA should be favored as they have more returning. The wildcard is that UTSA, UNT, and Rice have new QBs.
