Track & Field Championships Day 3
Thanks to FBO for picking up the slack. I just had no time because it was pretty non-stop today, with running prelims and field event finals.

Heather Olson ran one of the fastest times ever by an Owl in winning the steeplechase. I'm doing this on my Android from memory, but it was sub-10:10, and puts her in a tie for #19 in the NCAA. Claire Uke was 2nd in the discus.

While our women don't have a lot of running event finalists, we do have a big favorite in the shot put (Uke) and a contender in the pole vault (McKenzie Johnson).

East Carolina is the favorite to win, but I think Rice has a shot for second place.

The guys have been hit by the injury bug (Scott Filip, Harry Sagel, Alex Weinheimer), but Chris Pillow overcame his injury to win the pole vault. Our jumpers did really well to get 2 points because this conference is loaded in this.

Tomorrow, Evan Karakolis will be battling the La Tech guy in the javelin.

I think the men will finish 8th or 9th.

In summary, please understand that this is a very good track and field conference. We added the champion teams from the Sun Belt, the WAC, and Atlantic 10. They aren't scrubs.
