What travel issues, given classes are over and the AAC tourney doesn't start until Wednesday...and why did they have to wait 2 hours after the first game ended to start the 2nd game? Sounds like Whiting was looking for a way to not play a 3rd game away from Temple, since even a win would hurt their RPI, and another loss would cripple it. Why Temple went along with this we'll never know.
You would think that a program that will be killed after this year, they would have wanted to play their last game.
And by skipping the game, the Coogs stay ahead of us in RPI and remain in the Top 10. Cowardly things to do, however.

Those cowards swept us. Didn't they earn a place ahead of us in RPI?

Sweeping us in mid-week games has no impact on RPI. We played the tougher schedule, had the much better road record, and have the superior OOC RPI.
For them to avoid playing a final game against Temple simply to avoid losing RPI points is pretty pathetic in my book. Play the friggin schedule and let the chips fall where they may.

Huh?
RPI is based on the entirety of one's schedule-- not one series or 3 mid-week games. Had UH played their entire regular-season schedule, instead of whimping out of a final game against Temple, we would have a higher RPI than UH. That's a fact.

If Rice had taken care of business against uh and collected those three wins, we wouldn't need them to lose against Temple to have a better RPI. That's a fact.
It's petty to call them cowards after they met us on the field and bested us three times.

Not quite sure of that. It would be closer for sure, but I don't think you can say for certain that we would pass them.
As well, Frizzy's question is still valid. Their sweep did affect RPI. Yes, it is the whole season, but if we had taken care of business at least once, we'd be ahead of them already.

D1, we know with certainty that UH would have dropped below us in RPI even had they won...and had they lost, they'd probably have dropped down to 15 or 16 (as those 8 spots were separated by less than .010. You did notice that we dropped from #6 to #10 with our sweep of LaTech?

We were already down to #8 after losing to UH. Plus, we don't play in a vacuum. South Carolina had a great weekend against Vandy, which propelled them past us.

No, we were at #7 after losing to UH, and in a virtual tie with #6 as of Thursday morning.

Why does it matter (to either UH or Rice)? Neither will be national seeds and both will host regionals.

Since I can't find an archive of Thursday morning to prove I'm right, I'll just say....whatever.

Kind of a shame as I think La Tech could be a very good program given its geographic location. Closer to Dallas/Ft Worth and East Texas than ULL and in the northern part of Louisiana away from LSU, Tulane, and ULL it perhaps could get some of the kids that get overlooked by the others. He had a good run up until the last three years and was the top asst at ULL when they had their 3rd place finish in Omaha in 2000. I was impressed with the intensity his team played with this past weekend and thought they tried everything they could to win despite having a very poor hitting team. Someone will get a good asst coach next year.

In his next coaching stop he should consider running the UAB wheel play. More motion that Canadian Football...
Maybe he should be our FB OC then.
