If that's 35,000 you must have played in a 150,000 seat stadium, not a 92,000 capacity one. That's maybe 20,000, 25,000 max. Attendance was only 38,000 total.
Those overhangs are covering at least seven rows of seats. Also, in that photo you can't see our fans that were sitting on the home side. We had around 35,000 at the game. UNLV only brought around 1,500 to 2,500 to the game.
But, back to the topic...
Those are some stupid predictions. Why would North Texas travel to Hawaii when the HOD is just down the street? I know we wouldn't take 35,000 to the game again, because some stupid ass placed the game the day after Christmas, but we would still take more fans to that bowl then any other program. Also, If C-USA gets a team into the Independence Bowl, LA Tech would be the logical choice. These people need to take a geography course.
The HoD bowl has become the conference's best bowl game and the only one with a tie to a P5 conference. Who ever wins CUSA will probably select it as their bowl destination. It is not UNT's personal bowl game whenever they are bowl eligible...
I never claimed it was out personal bowl. Just said it makes sense to send our teams to regional bowl. I understand where you're coming from, and would have argued with you about why sending teams to the bowls in their region is the best policy, but since some genius moved the HOD to Dec 26, the folks in charge are obviously not concerned with maximizing the profits or exposure for our conference. Yes the HOD has the best conference tie and highest payout, but the payouts are split among our members. I wish C-USA could add a P5 opponent to one of our eastern bowls. That would make things much easier. If Marshall were to win the conference and select the HOD, I don't think the stands would look good on T.V., at least not for C-USA.
I'll stick with my statement. I don't believe another C-USA team can take as many fans to the HOD as North Texas. The Cotton Bowl is literally about 35 miles from our campus, and we have over 100,000 alumni living within an hours drive of the game.
I think the HOD would be the preferred bowl for all the Texas teams, and all would bring a good crowd.

Did y'all even average 20,000 at home last year?
Yep, plus NT had about 35,000 at the HOD last year.
Damn didn't realize it was that much. The HoD trophy is going to do wonders for UNT. They have a bright future in this conference.

Wait until legislature forces a three way trophy series. I can see UL falling into obscurity in the ACC, and UK will never find their way ou of the basement. Would give us a lot of bagging rights.
The politicians in Kentucky would never have WKU associated or given equal treatment with UK and UofL....With most of the people of Kentucky and politicians, only 2 teams that matter in state and those are UK and UoL despite what WKU fans think....

If it wasn't for Jodie Richards being the state Speaker of the House then WKU would get even less of a seat at the table. But being #3 is better then being lumped in with some of these other teams in the state.
Even though I agree that the state would never want or allow WKU to be seen on equal footing with UK or UofL. The state of Kentucky is starved for a consistent winner in college football. UofL took a step forward with Charlie Strong I think. However, they have far from locked it up. If WKU can continue to win consistently and can win bowl games then I think there is a lot of attention to be had. Especially with more "name" teams coming to Bowling Green in coming years.

Yes being #3 is better than #4 and certainly we have a lot of schools in this conf. who are 3rd in their state, so I am sure we all know how that is like being behind the couple of state powers that rule the roost...Marshall might be the only exception I can think of but most of us are 3rd or below in picking order in their respective states...
Any WKU Fan (or tops who is a college student) who thinks the state of Kentucky will force anything upon mighty UK and or UofL is delusional as can be when it comes to what WKU wants vs. what UK or UofL wants.....
We just need to keep winning and make a name for ourselves and conf and do the best we can, we all know every obstacle that can be had is against most of us from the start.....
Not saying Charlie Strong was a slouch but I think UofL is pretty solid with BP unless he gets on a motorcycle again...
